The Effects of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Programs Following Botulinum Toxin on Children With...
Cerebral PalsyThe purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Physiotherapy and rehabilitation program on body functions and structures, activity and participation levels, personal and environmental factors following Multilevel Botulinum toxin (BT) injections on ambulatory children with Cerebral Palsy (CP). Two physiotherapy and rehabilitation methods which are structural goal directed activity based physiotherapy (intervention group; 10 children with ambulatory Cerebral Palsy) and unstructured routine physiotherapy (control group; 10 children with ambulatory Cerebral Palsy) will be compared.
Sensory Stimulation During CIMT
Cerebral PalsyThe long-term goal of this project is to assess the impact of the novel sensory stimulation technique in enhancing outcomes of constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) in children with cerebral palsy. This is a pilot project.
Mobility Exercises for Gait (MEG Neuroplasticity Project)
Cerebral PalsyThis study is directed at identifying a the neurophysiological changes seen in children with cerebral palsy (CP) after undergoing physical therapy. The specific aims of the study will: (1) determine the changes in the sensorimotor cortical activity after physical therapy, (2) determine the mobility, participation and muscular performance improvements after therapy, and (3) determine the changes in a child's participation in activities outside of the laboratory environment.
Stem Cells in Umbilical Blood Infusion for CP
Cerebral PalsyThis study will investigate the safety of single dose intravenous infusion of cord blood cells which were cryopreserved after the birth of a brother or sister to a child with cerebral palsy.
Bike Skills Training for Children With Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral PalsyAn assessor blinded multi-centre randomized controlled trial will be conducted in which 60 participants will be randomized to either a novel task-specific approach to training bike skills or a parent-led home program comparison group. Baseline assessment will take place within 6 weeks prior to starting the intervention (T0) and outcomes will be assessed within a week following (T1); and at 12 - 14 weeks following (T2) the week long intervention. The primary outcome is attainment of individualised two-wheel bike specific goals at T1. All statistical analysis will be conducted on an intention-to-treat basis. Logistic regression will be used to assess the effect of providing the novel intervention compared to the parent-led home program on bike-specific goal attainment.
Effect of Botulinum Toxin Type A Associated With Physical Therapy on Children With Spastic Cerebral...
Cerebral PalsySpastic2 morePurpose: The aim of this study was investigate the effects of botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) associated with physical therapy on the functional capacity of children with spastic cerebral palsy (CP). Material and methods: Twenty-four children with spastic CP were concealed and randomly assigned to the Experimental Group (EG) consisting of 12 patients treated with BoNT-A and physical therapy and Control with 12 patients treated only with physical therapy. All participants were assessed through motor and functional scales (GMFM-88, Ashworth, Berg Balance Scale, TUG test and Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory) at three different times: before and after 30 days of treatment as well as 3 months after the end of treatment.
Rehabilitation Gaming System for Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral PalsyMovement DisorderIn this study the investigators evaluate the effectivity of Virtual Reality-based rehabilitation protocols for preventing motor deterioration in patients with cerebral palsy.
Mirror Therapy on Hand Function in Cerebral Palsy
Hemiplegic Cerebral PalsyMirror HandsThe aim is to investigate the effect of mirror therapy on hand functions in children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy.
Aerobic Training On Spasticity And Gross Motor Function In Children With Diplegic Cerebral Palsy...
Cerebral PalsyTo determine the effects of aerobic training on spasticity and gross motor function in children with diplegic Cerebral palsy.Cerebral palsy (CP) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by abnormalities of muscle tone, movement and motor skills, and is attributed to injury to the developing brain. . The spastic CP is found to be the commonest presentation followed by athetoid, ataxic and mixed types. Children with cerebral palsy (CP) have decreased capacity to participate in play and sports activities .Reduced capacity to perform typical childhood activities contributes to low habitual physical activity and declining gross motor function in adolescence. Exercise opportunities are restricted in the population of cerebral palsy with spasticity, and so muscle strength may be reduced by disuse. Aerobic Training via Lower-extremity cycling is a rehabilitation tool used by physical therapists to improve spasticity, gross motor function and cardio-respiratory fitness, appears well-suited as a therapeutic intervention for children with CP. The tools used will be GMFM-66 and Modified Ashworth Scale. Study will be conducted on Thirty two patients in two Groups. Group A will be Control Group that will be provided with conventional physiotherapy (Stretching exercises , Trunk control training, walk and breathing exercises) and Group B will be Experimental Group that will be provided with conventional physiotherapy with cycling for 30 minutes with three sessions per week over the period of 12 weeks. Data will be analyzed using spss 22.0.
Effects of Classic and Modified CIMT on Quality of Life of Children With Hemiplegic CP
Hemiplegic Cerebral PalsyThe purpose of this research is to see the effect of classic constraint-induced movement therapy and its modified form on quality of life of children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. Randomized controlled trials with 2-3 weeks follow-up. The sample size is 40. The subjects are divided in two groups, 20 subjects in classical CIMT group and 20 in modified CIMT group. Study duration is of 6 months. Sampling technique applied will be purposive non probability sampling technique. Only 4-12 years individual with hemiplegic cerebral palsy are included. Tools used in the study are Cerebral palsy (quality of life) and Kid Screen 27.
