Corticosteroids and / or Arthrographic Distention in the Treatment of Adhesive Capsulitis

Adhesive CapsulitisFrozen Shoulder

Arthrographic distention of the shoulder joint is an increasingly popular treatment option in the management of patients with frozen shoulder. Most have included the intra-articular injection of a corticosteroid as part of the procedure, but it is not known if this is necessary. It is also not known whether arthrographic distention using steroid and saline is better than intra-articular steroid injection alone. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is an additional benefit in the combination of arthrographic distention plus intra-articular corticosteroid injection compared to arthrographic distention or intra-articular corticosteroid injection alone.

Effect of Endoscopic Papillary Large Balloon Dilation on Recurrent Rate of Patients With Recurrentstones...

Endoscopic Papillary Large Balloon Dilation

The recurrent rate of CBDS in patients with recurrent CBDS is high. It was reported that up to 60% of patients had stone recurrence within two years after stone retrieval by ERCP. Although EPLBD is useful for for extraction of large CBDS with less operation time and mechanical lithotripsy. It is not known whether EPLBD could prevent the recurrence in patients with recurrent CBDS.Although Harada et al found that EPLBD might reduce the short-term recurrence of CBD stones in patients with previous ES. It is a retrospective study with a small sample size (n=94). Here a prospective, randomized controlled study including two tertiary centers was designed. The aim of this study was to investigate whether EPLBD could reduce the recurrence rate in patients with recurrent CBDS.

Tympanostomy Tubes Versus Eustachian Tube Dilation

Eustachian Tube DysfunctionEustachian Tube Dysfunction of Left Ear2 more

The objective of this study is to determine whether tympanostomy with pressure equalization tube placement or Eustachian tube (ET) dilation is superior at reducing symptoms of patients with ET dysfunction. Given the apparent promise of Eustachian tube dilation and the lack of head to head comparison to the more traditional tympanostomy tube, this study seeks to compare them in a head to head manner in order to assess superiority in regards to ETDQ-7 and tympanogram improvements.

Balloon Catheter for Cervical Ripening

Cervical Dilation

Once admitted, women who will have a transcervical balloon catheter inserted for induction will be approached for participation in this study. If they agree to be take part in this study (tape or no tape) they will be randomized into the study. After the balloon catheter is inserted, the balloon will then be filled with approximately 50-60 mL of normal saline, this is normal procedure. Study related: If randomized to "No Taping" the foley will be positioned comfortable and not placed to tension. For the "Tension" arm, tension will be placed on the balloon catheter, which will then be taped to the patient's inner thigh. The tension will be assessed and retaped as needed approximately every 30 minutes by the research and/or the nursing staff.
