Simultaneous Mifepristone and Misoprostol Versus Misoprostol Alone for Induction of Labor of Nonviable...

AbortionSecond Trimester9 more

When time allows, administration of mifepristone prior to second trimester induction of labor decreases total labor time. However, in the setting of many pregnancy complications, decreasing time from diagnosis of nonviable pregnancy to delivery is of utmost importance to decrease risk of maternal complications. Previous data has shown that total abortion time is longer in the group receiving mifepristone owing to the delay between mifepristone administration and initiation of misoprostol induction of labor. Thus, the investigators aim to investigate whether simultaneous mifepristone and misoprostol has benefits over misoprostol alone when labor induction of a nonviable second trimester cannot be delayed.

Preventive VT Substrate Ablation in Ischemic Heart Disease

Ventricular TachycardiaVentricular Arrythmia5 more

The investigators hypothesize that preventive VT substrate ablation in patients with chronic ICM, previously selected based on imaging criteria (BZC mass) for their likely high arrhythmic risk, is safe and effective in preventing clinical VT events.

Micophenolate Mofetil Versus Azathioprine in Myocarditis

Lymphocytic Myocarditis (Disorder)Heart Failure3 more

The study is aimed at studying the direct efficacy of mycophenolate mofetil (mycophenolate mofetil, CellCept, Genentech, N015393/02, 12.08.2009) (in combination with corticosteroids (methylprednisolone, Metypred, Orion, 003467, 26.02.2016)) in the treatment of lymphocytic myocarditis: the effect on symptoms, structural and functional parameters of the heart, on the outcomes of lymphocytic myocarditis: mortality, the need for transplantation, other surgical interventions, the incidence of unwanted side effects, and forced cancellation (replacement) of the drug. To compare the data on the efficacy and safety of therapy with mycophenolate mofetil (in combination with corticosteroids) with the standard regimen of therapy for lymphocytic myocarditis (corticosteroids in combination with azathioprine), including in cases of forced replacement of drugs with each other.

A Mouth Education Program for Dry Mouth

XerostomiaEnd of Life2 more

The goal of this cluster based intervention trial is to evaluate the effect of a nurse-led patient education program on dry mouth in patients with a life-limiting condition or frailty. The Mouth Educational Program (MEP) is a nurse-led patient education program, in which trained nurses use current clinical, palliative dry mouth guidelines in a structured manner to discuss causes, consequences and interventions with the patients and to create an appropriate treatment plan. This intervention will be compared to a control group receiving care as usual. Therefore, the main question it aims to answer is: Does a nurse-led patient education program reduce dry mouth complaints in patients with a life-limiting condition or frailty? Participants will be asked to answer questionnaires and, when part of the intervention group, partake in the Mouth Educational Program (MEP).

Cardiac Sympathetic Denervation for Prevention of Ventricular Tachyarrhythmias

Sudden Cardiac DeathVentricular Tachycardia2 more

The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of cardiac sympathetic denervation (CSD) surgery on life threatening abnormal heart rhythms called ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation that can lead to sudden cardiac death. Subjects will be asked to participate in this research study if they have recurrent ventricular tachycardia (at least one ICD shock for ventricular tachycardia) and have undergone at least one catheter ablation procedure or have ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation that is not ablatable. The goal of this study is to determine whether cardiac sympathetic denervation can prevent these abnormal heart rhythms from occurring and therefore, prevent, ICD shocks which are not only painful, but have been shown to reduce quality of life and/or lead to depression, particularly in the period immediately after the shock.

Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator Versus Optimal Medical Therapy In Patients With Variant Angina...

Angina PectorisVariant1 more

The purpose of this study is to determine whether ICD(Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) implantation on the top of optimal medical therapy in patients with variant angina manifesting as aborted sudden cardiac death reduces the incidence of the death from any cause compared with optimal medical therapy alone.

Coupons for Safe Water Project

DeathDeath6 more

Guaranteeing access to safe drinking water is still a challenge in rural households in developing countries, and unsafe water sources are responsible for millions of deaths each year around the world. Coupons for free dilute chlorine solution are a cost-effective and effective way of ameliorating child health and reducing diarrhea incidence. It is still an empirical challenge, however, to see if the positive health effects will be maintained when the program is implemented at scale. In this study, investigators conduct a randomized controlled trial (RCT) at scale to study the impacts of a chlorine coupon program implemented at health clinics on child health, including self-reported diarrhea, fever, and cough incidence in the previous two weeks. Investigators further investigate the pathway of the impact, such as self-reported and objectively measured use of chlorine and frequency of visits to health clinics.
