Electronic IIEF Validation

Erectile Dysfunction

Questionnaires are used within urology to objectify disease burden and symptom changes during therapy. Recent technological improvements, as the smartphone and tablet, create new fill-out possibilities. However, questionnaires are only validated on paper. In order to use questionnaires for multiple platforms, electronic validation is needed. The International Prostate Symptom Score has already been validated on the smartphone. The International Index of Erectile Function (normal version of 15 questions and short version of 5 questions) is widely used within urology, however electronic validation is required for usage on electronic platforms in the future.

Identification of Underlying Conditions in Men Prescribed a PDE5 Inhibitor

Erectile DysfunctionCardiovascular Diseases1 more

Erectile dysfunction (ED) has been identified as an independent risk factor for existing cardiovascular disease, preceding a major cardiovascular event by an average of about 5 years. Are men prescribed a PDE5 inhibitor for ED more likely to have a new diagnosis of underlying medical conditions compared to men of a similar age not receiving PDE5 inhibitor treatment?

Prevalence and Risk Factors of Erectile Dysfunction in Type 2 Diabetic Patients

Type 2 Diabetic PatientsErectile Dysfunction

The investigators evaluated 250 male, type 2 diabetic patients, aged 18-80 years. They will undergo IIEF (International Index of Erectile Function), SAS of Zung (self-rating anxiety state)and SDS of Zung (self-rating depression scale)questionnaires. The investigators will evaluate anthropometric and biochemical parameters, dysautonomic function index, IMT (Intima Media Thickness) index, and fundus oculi examen. Furthermore, the investigators will perform MNSI (Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument) and NDS (Neuropathy Disability Score)questionnaires.

Erectile Dysfunction After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Versus the Thrombolytic Therapy in...

STEMI

Erectile dysfunction is a common sexual problem affecting up to one-third of men throughout their life. It is now well recognized that risk factors for erectile dysfunction (ED) include the same risk factors as coronary artery disease, including smoking, dyslipidemia, diabetes, hypertension, lack of physical activity and obesity. We will investigate the effect of reperfusion strategies (primary angioplasty & therapeutic therapy) on the prevalence of erectile dysfunction after acute myocardial infarction. Erectile function will be evaluated using the international index of erectile function after 3 months of successful reperfusion treatment of acute myocardial infarction.

Management of Sexual Dysfunction With Bioresonance Technique

Sexual DysfunctionErectile Dysfunction1 more

Bioresonance is the big promise of the medical technology of the future because it stimulates the self-regenerating system of the body by affecting the body's most essential procedures. The big advantage is that its multiple and there are no harmful side effects. This therapy teaches something to the body what in a younger and healthier state it had already Bioresonance is based on the scientific principle that metabolism within cells is influenced by one's electromagnetic field. We start to use bioresonance technology in management of erectile dysfunction , premature ejaculation, decreased libido.

Periodontal Disease as a Risk Indicator for Erectile Dysfunction - A Cross-sectional Study on 100...

Erectile DysfunctionPeriodontitis1 more

Background Increased levels of C reactive protein (CRP) can be found not only within individuals with periodontal diseases and those with atherosclerotic alterations but also have been proved in men with erectile dysfunction (ED). NO seems to be the key mediator in the endothelial-derived vasodilation and penile erection. The incidence of ED increases in patients with diabetes, hypertonia, hypercholesteremia, cardiovascular diseases and renal failure. First evidence suggests that there is a relationship between periodontal disease and ED as well. Due to slow progression of chronic periodontal disease (0.3-0.5mm attachment loss/year) it can be assumed, that periodontal disease exists mainly before ED develops. Specific Aims This cross-sectional study aims to assess the incidence of periodontal disease in male individuals with ED. A possible correlation between severity of periodontal disease, level of systemic hs-CRP and ED will be assessed. Additionally, further risk factors for endothelial dysfunction, such lipid values, will be determined and regarded in the analysis. Hypothesis The investigators assume, that severity of ED correlates with severity of periodontal disease as well as with systemic involvement assessed by CRP-levels. In detail, the investigators hypothesize, that severity of ED (assessed by the questionnaire "International Index of Erectile Function") correlates with the mean probing depth and the level of systemic hs-CRP. Material and Methods st appointment: In the present cross-sectional study 100 male patients with ED will be included. Patients who visit the urological department (Rudolfstiftung) for ED-treatment will be asked to participate. The erectile dysfunction will be assessed by means of a questionnaire (International Index of Erectile Function - IIEF-5). Urologic examination. The following blood parameters will be assessed: testosterone, prolactin, hs-CRP, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha, Interleukin-1, total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, HbA1c and fasting glucose. nd appointment: At the department of Oral Surgery (Bernhard Gottlieb School of Dentistry) the periodontal situation and the index of decayed-missing-filled permanent teeth (DMFT) index of the patients will be determined. A panoramic radiograph for assessment of alveolar bone loss and a periodontal status (probing depth, recession, bleeding- and plaque-indices) will be performed. The observer at the dental clinic will have no information on the severity of the ED (observer blinded).

Impact of Treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome by Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Equipment...

Lower Urinary Tract SymptomsErectile Dysfunction1 more

To treat lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and erectile dysfunction (ED), we mainly have symptomatic drug treatments. Some patients are resistant to the treatments that we have or are forced to stop treatments because of side effects. It would be interesting to focus on comorbidities and to evaluate whether it is possible to improve the urological symptoms by taking care the comorbidities, which would consist in an etiological treatment of the urological symptoms. The aim of the study is to evaluate the evolution of low urinary tract disorders (LUTS) and erectile dysfunction (ED) in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) following by continuous positive airway pressure equipment (CPAP) at night. Participation in the study will be offered to all patients, men and women, consulting or hospitalized in the sleep unit of the department of pneumology CHU of Reims for a nocturnal ventilatory polygraphy or a polysomnography diagnostic of OSAS. Men will complete three questionnaires about LUTS and DE, women one questionnaire about LUTS. The questionnaires will be completed twice, the first time when consulting at the sleep unit for nocturnal ventilatory polygraphy or a polysomnography diagnostic of OSAS ; the second time during the pneumology consultation three months later. We will compare the results between the questionnaires to assess whether OSAS equipment with CPAP has improved urologic symptoms. If the management of OSAS allows an improvement of lower urinary tract disorders and / or an improvement of erectile dysfunction, these results would be interesting for the management of patients resistant to symptomatic drug treatments or to stop them because of iatrogenic side effects. Etiological rather than symptomatic management would also have long-term benefits, both in improving the overall quality of life of the patient and in the medical and economic field. It might be interesting to identify in urology consultation among patients consulting for LUTS or ED, patients at risk of presenting OSAS and referring them to a pulmonologist to manage OSAS if it exists, from the beginning of the urological care.
