EoE(Eosinophilic Esophagitis)

Eosinophilic EsophagitisDysphagia

To evaluate quantitative magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) as a potential non-invasive, radiation-free diagnostic tool for evaluating esophageal wall remodeling (thickness and stiffness) and response to treatment in children and adolescents with newly diagnosed eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) presenting with dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) and food impaction.

Short Duration 6Fed Sponge For EoE Patients

Eosinophilic Esophagitis

This research is being done to see if the investigators can use the cytosponge or esophacap (depending on availability) to determine if shorter duration SFED (two weeks versus six weeks) would have equal results.

WEI NASAL JET for The Sedation of Outpatient Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

Peptic UlcerGastric Cancer3 more

Low pulse oximetry is the most common adverse events during sedation for upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. The main reason is the glossoptosis after sedation. In present study a new designed nasopharyngeal airway embedded with jet ventilation catheter(WEI NASAL JET) will be utilized in order to reduce the hypoxia. At the same time the safety will be evaluated.

Minimal Change Esophagitis by i-Scan Endoscopy in Dyspeptic Patients

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

The purpose of this study to assess efficacy of SE endoscopy in the detection of MCE in dyspeptic patients with or without GERD diagnosed by GerdQ or by endoscopy + PHM and in normal volunteers.

Confocal Laser Endomicroscopy in Patients With Eosinophilic Esophagitis

Eosinophilic Esophagitis

Confocal laser endomicroscopy enables in vivo microscopic imaging within the mucosa layer of the gut at a subcellular resolution. Various studies have addressed the potential of endomicroscopy for the in vivo diagnosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, Barrett´s esophagus and esophageal adenocarcinoma. Currently, there is only one case report from our group who noted the utility of endomicroscopy for the in vivo diagnosis of eosinophilic esophagitis. The purpose of this study is to determine whether endomicroscopy is effective for the in vivo diagnosis of eosinophilic esophagitis.

Evaluation Study of a Management Strategy for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

RefluxHeartburn2 more

The aim of this project is to compare the GERD clinical outcomes in patients where a structured pathway using the GerdQ questionnaire is implemented compared with the clinical outcomes of those treated without this implementation. This is a European project with 5 participating countries (Austria, Italy, Norway, Spain and Sweden). Due to different characteristics regarding the actual management of this disease in the 5 countries, each country had the flexibility to introduce design differences and changes in the study protocol.

Natural History of Eosinophilic Esophagitis

Eosinophilic Esophagitis

Researchers are trying to understand the course of Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE), its progression and effects of treatments.

Sensory Evaluation of Oral Nutrition Supplements in Patients at Risk for Mucositis Undergoing Cancer...

EsophagitisMalignant Neoplasm1 more

This pilot clinical trial studies sensory evaluation of oral nutrition supplements in patients at risk for mucositis undergoing cancer treatment. Sensory evaluation may help to obtain input about new oral nutritional supplements that may increase nutrient intake and maintain or improve nutritional status, functional capacity, and quality of life in cancer patients.

Feasibility of Multi-Spectral Endoscopic Imaging for Detection of Early Neoplasia in Barrett's Oesophagus...

Barrett EsophagusEsophageal Neoplasms1 more

Multispectral imaging represents an exciting new field of investigation in endoscopic research. Multispectral imaging uses a specialised camera to detect multiple colours, allowing us to build a rough spectrum from each point in our image. It is widely reported that these spectra are different for different tissue types, but this is difficult to study ex vivo since de-oxygenation of the blood and decay of the tissue change these spectra considerably. The investigators have therefore designed this study to asses the different multispectral imaging spectra of Barrett's Oesophagus, which we believe might be utilised as a method to detect dysplasia in the future.
