A Comparison of ThermaWedge™ Device and Achilles Tendon Stretching for the Treatment of Plantar...
Plantar FasciitisPlantar FasciopathyThe investigators will compare Achilles tendon stretching with a new product called a ThermaWedge™ device, a foam wedge designed to help with certain foot stretches and exercises, in the treatment of chronic plantar fasciopathy. There will be 2 groups each of 25 - 30 participants who have chronic plantar fasciopathy, which is a common cause of foot pain. Exercises will be done for 6 weeks and then each group will do the other exercise protocol for another 6 weeks. Participants will fill out the Foot and Ankle Disability Index scale and numerical analog pain scale and the Global Rating of Change Scale prior to any treatment, weekly during treatment and post treatment. The investigators' hypothesis is that use of the ThermaWedge™ device will result in decreased pain and disability when compared to achilles tendon stretching.

Chronic Plantar FasciitisDouble-blinded feasibility study for the treatment of pain related to chronic plantar fasciitis. A total 37 patients (27 treated and 12 control/sham treated) received 2 treatments, 2 weeks apart on subcutaneous plantar fascia musculoskeletal tissue along with Standard of Care treatments as prescribed by the Principal Investigator. Patients were followed for up to 6 months after the first treatment receiving a physical exam at each follow-up visit (4, 8 and 12 weeks) and provided feedback via Patient/Subject Reported Outcome Measure surveys specific to the treated anatomy at each visit and via phone follow-up at 26 weeks after the first treatment.

The investigators have devised a novel foot offloading device (PopSole™) which will allow for customization of the area where there is foot pain, as well as allow for customizable arch support and elevation of the metatarsals. This validation study is aimed to assess improvement of pain with use, ease of use, fit and feel, compliance, and durability over a 4 week period. Validated patient reported outcome measures will be used at baseline, 2 weeks and 4 weeks.

Plantar FasciitisThis is a study investigating treatment of plantar fasciitis (heel pain). Physicians commonly prescribe specialized orthoses (shoe inserts) to treat heel pain. This study will evaluate the reduction in heel pain associated with three types of orthoses. It is hypothesized that custom made orthoses will significantly decrease pain and improve foot function in comparison to prefabricated insoles and sham insoles.
