International multicenter observational study of a random-sample cohort of patients undergoing any in-hospital surgical procedure under general or regional anaesthesia during a continued 14-day period of recruitment. Primary hypothesis of this study is that the use of muscle relaxants, their reversal agents, or neuromuscular monitoring increases the incidence of postoperative pulmonary complications. The secondary hypothesis is that the use of muscle relaxants increases in-hospital mortality.

This study aimed to compare the effect of no muscle relaxants and reduced-dose rocuronium on the anesthetic induction and emergence with fentanyl in children undergoing adenotonsillectomy.

Pyridostigmine is a medication that is used in certain heart rate and blood pressure conditions. This medication, as a side effect, is known to also cause changes in the junction between a nerve and muscle. The changes caused at the nerve muscle junction by pyridostigmine could alter the effect of muscle relaxants (a medication used during surgery and anesthesia). The investigators are conducting this study to see whether patients taking pyridostigmine are more or less sensitive to rocuronium (a muscle relaxing medication used during surgery).

The purpose of this study is to determine the overall optimal timing of when the Bispectral Index (BIS) monitor should be started: before or after the muscle relaxant is given.

Hypotonia is a common trait in infants with Down syndrome, resulting in pathologies and delays in gaining basic motor skills. There are no screenings available to aid in early diagnosis, therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop a way to test for hypotonia in children with Down syndrome.

Evaluation of PREPL activity in healthy controls and known or possible PREPL deficient patients

The goal of this program is to provide expanded access (i.e., before marketing authorization) to tiratricol as treatment for patients with monocarboxylate transporter 8 deficiency (MCT8 deficiency, also known as Allan-Herndon-Dudley syndrome [AHDS]), who in their Treating Physician's opinion, could benefit from tiratricol and meet the eligibility criteria.

Muscle relaxant is usually needed for surgery. However, the optimal depth of neuro-muscular blockade is still on debate. Deep neuro-muscular blockade may benefit the patients during surgery, but may increase the risk of residual blockade after surgery. Residual blockade has been reported to increase risk of morbidity. In this study, we tend to observe the postoperative outcomes in patients undergoing abdominal surgery under general anesthesia. And to compare the outcomes in patients received different depth of neuro-muscular blockade.

Hypotonia is a common manifestation in infants and children.It includes several clinical conditions that do not always lead to a favorable outcome .Thus, it is important to make early diagnosis to decide on the treatment and follow up of these cases. Hypotonia is a state of low muscle tone (The amount of tension or resistance to stretch on a muscle), often pointing to reduced muscle strength. Hypotonia is not a specific medical disorder, but a potential manifestation of several diseases and disorders, that affect motor nerve control by the brain or muscle strength.

This Germany-wide, multi-center, epidemiologic study is designed to evaluate the incidence of post-operative/anesthesia effects of muscle relaxants (i.e. post-operative residual curarization: PORC) and their effect on patient outcome. Aside from biometric data, type of operation, use of muscle relaxants and neuromuscular monitoring, all patients will be clinically evaluated after their operation in the post-anesthesia care unit. To look at long-term effects, patients will be followed-up 28 days after their operation/anesthesia regarding post-operative/anesthesia morbidity and mortality.
