Nutritional Intervention and Outcomes in Elderly After Hip Fracture Surgery
Elderly PatientsMalnutrition4 moreHip fracture is one of the most frequently occurred injury in the elderly and usually requires surgical treatment. Malnutrition is common in elderly patients with hip fracture and is associated with worse outcomes. This study is designed to test the hypothesize that, in elderly patients with malnutrition or at risk of malnutrition and scheduled for hip-fracture surgery, perioperative nutritional intervention may reduce early complications and improve long-term survival.
Postoperative Aspirin and Ankle Fracture Healing
Ankle FracturesThis study aims to identify if postoperative aspirin use leads to a delay in fracture healing. NSAIDs have long been avoided in the management of fractures, due to the belief that they may impair fracture healing. As aspirin is frequently prescribed for long-term management of various medical conditions, it is worth understanding if continuing to take aspirin during the process of fracture healing has a clinically significant effect on the rate of fracture healing.
Intra Articular Ankle Fractures
Intra-Articular FracturesThe purpose of this study is to examine the effect of early, percutaneous, intra-articular saline lavage on the undiluted synovial fluid microenvironment during the acute phase following intra-articular fracture of the human ankle. We hypothesize that early intervention with percutaneous joint lavage in the first 0-48 hours after injury will attenuate the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, MMP's and cartilage breakdown products compared to non-lavaged control subjects at the time of surgical fixation.
G7 Dual Mobility With Vivacit-E or Longevity PMCF
Hip OsteoarthritisRheumatoid Arthritis7 moreThis study is a global, multi-center, prospective, non-controlled, non-randomized, post-market clinical follow-up study. The main objectives of this study are to confirm the long-term safety, performance, and clinical benefits of the G7 Dual Mobility Acetabular System when used with the Vivacit-E or Longevity polyethylene hip bearing and instrumentation in primary total and revision (total) hip arthroplasty
Effect of Single vs Multiple Prophylactic Antibiotic Doses on PJI Following Primary THA in Patients...
Fracture of HipTotal Hip Arthroplasty2 moreAim: To compare the effect of one single dose versus multiple doses of prophylactic antibiotics administered within 24 hours, on the development of PJI after surgery in patients undergoing primary THA due to an acute fracture or sequelae of proximal femoral or acetabular fractures. The study is designed as a cross-over, cluster randomized, non-inferiority trial. All Danish orthopedic surgery departments performing primary THA with the majority being within inclusion criteria will be involved: Based on national quality databases, two-year cohorts of approximately 2,000 primary THAs due to a fracture or sequelae to a fracture, conducted at all public and private orthopedic departments in Denmark, this includes 36 sites corresponding to a total of 39 departments.
RESTORE - Study of AGN1 LOEP to Prevent Secondary Hip Fractures
Fragility FractureHip Fractures1 moreA randomized controlled trial to evaluate AGN1 to prevent secondary hip fractures in osteoporotic women undergoing treatment of index hip fractures. Up to 2400 subjects will be randomized between a treatment group and a control group. Subjects will be followed for a minimum of 5 years after undergoing hip fracture repair surgery.
Deep Deltoid Ligament Integrity in Weber B Ankle Fractures - Mini-invasive Arthroscopic Evaluation....
Ankle Fracture - Lateral MalleolusDeltoid Ligament; Sprain (Strain) (Ankle)1 moreProspective cohort study to evaluate the use of a NanoScopic procedure to assess deltoid ligament injuries with outcomes measured at baseline, 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 1 year and 2 years. Further to examine whether the findings correlate with results on gravity stress test and weightbearing radiographs.
Local Multimodal Injection Versus Regional Anesthesia in Controlling Pain for Treating Rotational...
Ankle FracturesThe investigators plan to evaluate the efficacy in reducing post-operative pain between local multimodal analgesia as compared to regional anesthesia in rotational ankle fractures.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to Optimize Post-Operative Recovery Trial
PainPostoperative8 morePsychological factors such as stress, distress, anxiety, depression, and poor coping strategies may be associated with ongoing pain following injuries such as fractures. To study this relationship, patients will undergo cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which is designed to modify such thoughts with the goal of reducing ongoing pain and improving quality of life. The goal of this study is to determine if CBT, versus usual care, reduces the prevalence of moderate to severe persistent post-surgical pain (PPSP) over 12-months post-fracture in patients with an open or closed fracture of the appendicular skeleton, treated with internal fixation.
Dual vs. Single-Antibiotic Impregnated Cement in Hemiarthroplasty for Femoral Neck Fracture
Femoral Neck FracturesProsthetic InfectionRational for conducting the study: Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is the most feared complication following prosthetic replacement of the hip joint and is associated with increased mortality, morbidity and economic burden. The aim of the trial is to investigate whether the risk of periprosthetic joint infection after treatment with hemiarthroplasty performed due to femoral neck fracture is reduced after the use of dual-impregnated antibiotic loaded cement. The primary outcome variable is the incidence of periprosthetic joint infection within one year after the index procedure. Secondary outcome variables include the occurrence of re-operations for any reason, bacteriology, antibiotic treatment, mortality and health care costs.
