Omeprazole 20 mg in Patients With Laryngopharyngeal reflux and Comorbid Chronic Rhinosinusitis

Laryngopharyngeal RefluxChronic Rhinosinusitis (Diagnosis)

The hypothesis of this study is that a gastroesophageal reflux recommended treatment with proton pump inhibitor (dose and duration) compared to placebo significantly reduces both the signs and symptoms of laryngopharyngeal reflux and comorbid chronic rhinosinusitis. Primary objective was to determine whether 8 weeks of treatment with omeprazole 20 mg ones daily (OD) significantly reduces the signs and symptoms of laryngopharyngeal reflux when compared to placebo in patients with laryngopharyngeal reflux with comorbid chronic rhinosinusitis. Secondary objectives were to determine whether 8 weeks of treatment with omeprazole 20 mg OD significantly reduces the signs and symptoms of comorbid chronic rhinosinusitis in patients with laryngopharyngeal reflux when compared to matching placebo; and to investigate the association of the severity of signs and symptoms of laryngopharyngeal reflux with the ones of chronic rhinosinusitis in the same group of patients. The research was carried out as a double blind randomized placebo controlled trial. Patients were randomized into two groups in an approximate 1:1 ratio using a concealed random sequence. After randomization and initial assessment treatment was initialized. Patients on active treatment were given omeprazole 20 mg once daily half an hour before breakfast for 8 weeks, while those in the placebo group were given matching placebo tablets using the same regimen for 8 weeks as the group on the active treatment. Patients were reassessed at the end of treatment for signs and symptoms of laryngopharyngeal reflux and comorbid chronic rhinosinusitis.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTI) in GERD Patients With Insomnia

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

This study will enroll patients with persistent reflux symptoms despite proton-pump inhibitor therapy and chronic insomnia. Participants that are eligible for the study and agree to participate will receive cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBTI) delivered by a web-based approach. The goal of the treatment is to improve the participants insomnia and reflux symptoms. In addition to the cognitive behavioral therapy, participants will be asked to keep a daily diary and periodically complete questionnaires to assess their symptoms.

Effect of a Combination Oral Formulation of Hyaluronic Acid, Chondroitin Sulphate and Magnesium...

Gastro Esophageal Reflux

This is a post-market, multi-center, double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, cross-over study with GERDOff Plus added on top of the current PPI treatment in patients with GERD. The aim of the study is to evaluate the performance of GERDOff Plus, a class III medical device, consisting in a hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulphate and magnesium trisilicate, in addition to the PPIs, in patients with GERD not fully satisfied with their current treatment with PPIs. Patients will receive either GERDOff Plus or placebo q.i.d. for 21 days followed by a wash-out period of 3 weeks. After the wash-out period, the patients will receive either placebo or GERDOff Plus respectively

Endoscopic Injection of Dextranomer/Hyaluronic Acid Versus Ureteral Reimplantation In Treatment...

Vesico-Ureteral Reflux

In this study, the investigators aim to compare the outcomes of Dextranomer/hyaluronic acid (Dexell®) and extravesical reimplantation (Lich- Gregoir) procedures for primary vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) grades III and IV in children.

Benefit of Pharyngeal and Oesophageal pH-impedance of Patients With High Suspicion of Laryngopharyngeal...

Laryngopharyngeal RefluxOesophageal pH-impedance

Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) is the retrograde movement of gastric contents into the larynx, pharynx and upper aerodigestive tract. The symptoms and manifestations are very changeable and non specific. Pharyngeal and Oesophageal pH-impedance may help to detect these reflux and to identify patients with abnormal LPR. To compare and describe the results of pharyngeal and oesophageal pH-impedance of patients with high suspicion of laryngopharyngeal reflux, with the results of healthy patients.

Safety Study of Airway Clearance Techniques in Infants.

Gastro-esophageal Reflux

The purpose of this study is to determine whether three airway clearance techniques ( Bouncing, Assisted Autogenic Drainage ( AAD) and bouncing and AAD) provoke or aggravate gastro-esophageal reflux in infants under the age of 1 year.

Efficacy and Safety of Esomeprazole Once Daily for the Treatment of GERD in Neonatal Patients

GERD

The purpose of this study is to assess the difference between esomeprazole and placebo in the treatment of signs and symptoms as observed by 8-hour video and cardiorespiratory monitoring in neonatal patients.

Do Laryngeal Tissue Changes in Patients Suspected of Having Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Predict Response...

Larynx DiseaseGastroesophageal Reflux

The purpose of the study is to determine if tissue changes are predictor of clinical response to therapy. The hypothesis is that the patients who have laryngeal signs and symptoms related to acid reflux, will have ultrastructural changes on a laryngeal biopsy which are predictors of response to therapy.

Phase 3/Safety & Efficacy of Esomeprazole in Infants

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

The purpose of this study is to look at the improvement of a once a day dose of esomeprazole for reducing the signs and symptoms of infants with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This research study consists of a screening, open-label, and double-blind treatment withdrawal phase. The screening phase ensures the patient eligibility. No study medication is dispensed during the screening phase. During the open-label phase, patients are administered esomeprazole 2.5mg, 5.0mg or 10.0mg based on his/her weight. During the double-blind phase, the patients are administered either his/her open-label dose or placebo. Double-blind means neither the physician, parent, or patient will know if patient is taking esomeprazole or placebo. The patient will have an equal chance of receiving esomeprazole or placebo.
