Retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness measurement on the parapapillary atrophy is incorrect. Because a new spectral domain OCT, the Cirrus HD OCT, uses a movable circle to analyze the RNFL thickness, we may suggest a new analysis strategy for the parapapillary atrophy.

Glaucoma is presumed to be an axonal disease which starts at the lamina cribrosa. This assumption has led to the monitoring of the retinal nerve fiber layer thickness for the diagnosis and monitoring of progression of glaucoma. However, varying disc size, myopia and tilted discs affect the thickness of the retinal nerve fiber layer. This study aims to ascertain the ration of the retinal nerve fiber layer against full retina as a predictor of glaucoma diagnosis and progression.

RT-View utilizes spectral domain technology to assess both RNFL and ganglion cell layer thickness. This study aims to correlate visual field defects in patients with glaucoma to both RNFL and ganglion cell layer thickness.

The purpose of this study is to compare three perimetric techniques regarding progression of the visual field.

Small pupils are not uncommon in situations requiring surgical intervention for glaucoma and cataract. Inadequate binocular view during combined trabeculaectomy and glaucoma surgery needs to be overcome by additional iris manupulations to dilate the pupils which increase the liklihood of inflammation, inraocular pressure rise after surgery and enhnced liklihood of failure of glaucoma surgery. The proposed trial is an observational study to analyse post operative outcome of eyes undrgoing trabeculectomy and phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation with small pupils in persons with glaucoma coexisting with cataract.
