Tube Versus Trabeculectomy (TVT) Study

Glaucoma

The purpose of the Tube Versus Trabeculectomy (TVT) Study is to compare the safety and efficacy of nonvalved tube shunt surgery to trabeculectomy with mitomycin C in patients with previous ocular surgery.

Outcomes of Intraoperative 5-Fluorouracil Versus Mitomycin C

Glaucoma

A clinical trial to establish the long term response of using intraoperative 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) versus mitomycin C (MMC) in trabeculectomy glaucoma surgery. Antiproliferative agents such as 5-fluorouracil and Mitomycin C have been used extensively in trabeculectomy surgery to improve the success of the surgery and prevent further visual loss and blindness in glaucoma patients.

Intravitreal Bevacizumab for Neovascular Glaucoma

NeovascularGlaucoma

Several studies have confirmed high levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in eyes with neovascular glaucoma (NVG). The role of VEGF inhibitors in regression of other neovascular disorders such as wet-type age-related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema has been described. We aim to evaluate the effect of three intravitreal injections of bevacizumab (Avastin) 2.5 mg versus a sham procedure for treatment of NVG. Outcome measures include intraocular pressure and extent of iris neovascularization. Both study arms will receive conventional treatment for NVG.

IOP-Lowering Efficacy of Brinzolamide 1.0% Added to Travoprost 0.004%/Timolol 0.5% Fixed Combination...

Glaucoma

Uncontrolled glaucoma patients being treated with a prostaglandin agent alone or in combination with adjunctive drugs in fixed or unfixed combinations, will be switched from their current therapy to travoprost/timolol fixed combination and either Azopt or placebo

Results of Different Location of Ahmed Glaucoma Valve Implantation in Refractory Glaucoma, Superior...

Glaucoma

Purpose:To compare the efficacy and safety of Ahmed Glaucoma Valve (AGV) implantation in the superior versus inferior quadrants. Methods: In a non-randomized clinical trial and over a period of two years, consecutive patients with refractory glaucoma underwent AGV implantation in the superior or inferior quadrants. Main outcome measures included best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure (IOP), number of glaucoma medications, complications and success rate (defined as at least 30% IOP reduction below preoperative values and 5<IOP<22 mmHg with or without glaucoma medications). Other criteria for failure included implant removal, additional glaucoma surgery, phthisis bulbi or loss of light perception.

Open-Angle GlaucomaOcular Hypertension

To compare intraocular pressure lowering effectiveness of a combination drug vs. two individual drugs dosed alone.

24-Hour Intraocular Pressure (IOP) And Blood Pressure Control In Glaucoma And Ocular Hypertension...

Primary Open Angle GlaucomaOcular Hypertension

The purpose of this study is to compare the short-term mean 24-hour intraocular pressure control, 24-hour blood pressure effect and safety of Latanoprost/Timolol fixed combination given once in the evening with placebo once in the morning versus timolol maleate 0.5% given twice daily in patients with ocular hypertension and primary open-angle glaucoma.
