Subconjunctival Versus Direct Mitomycin C in Trabeculectomy
Open Angle GlaucomaTrabeculectomy is routinely used as a surgical treatment for open angle glaucoma. Success of trabeculectomy is greatly augmented by the use of antimetabolites to inhibit wound healing, specifically Mitomycin C (MMC). MMC can be applied to the eye at various sites, concentrations and times. This study aims to compare the two application routes that are commonly employed: subconjunctival pre-operative injection and intraoperative direct scleral application in terms of IOP lowering effect, bleb appearance and complications.

MicrocatheterTrabeculotomy in Primary Congenital Glaucoma
Primary Congenital GlaucomaPURPOSE: To study circumferential trabeculotomy for congenital glaucoma using Glaucolight illuminated microcatheter. Setting: Ophthalmology department, Faculty of Medicine, Minia University, 61519, El-Minia, Egypt. DESIGN: Prospective, randomized, consecutive interventional study METHODS: This was a prorospective study of 25 eyes of 25 patients with primary congenital or juvenile glaucoma those underwent circumferential trabeculotomy done with an illuminated microcatheter through a period of 24 months. Patients data of 12 months follow-up were recorded. The primary target was mean intraocular pressure (IOP) study in which unqualified (complete success) was defined as an IOP ≤21 mm Hg and at least a 30% reduction without the use of antiglaucoma drugs and a qualified success when medications were used to reach this aim. The secondary target was studding the corneal diameter (CD) and cup disc ratio (C/D) change.

Ocular HypertensionOpen-Angle GlaucomaThe objective of this study is to investigate corneal confocal microscopic findings, ocular signs and symptoms in patients on treatment with the preserved prostaglandin analogue latanoprost 0.005% eye drops (Xalatan®) and after the switch to preservative-free prostaglandin analog tafluprost 0.0015% eye drops (Taflotan®). Patients who have been using latanoprost as their prior medication (at least 6 months) and who fulfil all the inclusion criteria including the specified ocular symptoms and signs, will switch from latanoprost 0.005% eye drops to the assigned preservative-free tafluprost 0.0015% eye drops for twelve (12) months.
