Efficacy of Intravenous Immunoglobulin in Patients With Hemorrhagic Fever With Renal Syndrome: a...

HFRS (Hemorrhagic Fever With Renal Syndrome)

The goal of this randomized study to test the efficacy of different doses of IVIG (intravenous immunoglobulin) in the treatment of severe HFRS(hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome), and provide new clinical ideas for the treatment and prognosis of HFRS patients in the future. This study will include all hospitalized patients with confirmed severe or critically ill HFRS from October 2021 to October 2023 from 9 centers. Participants will receive IVIG 10g/d or IVIG 20g/d. All the participants will be given conventional liquid therapy and symptomatic and supportive treatment. Participants will be collected demographic, epidemiological history, hospitalization information, clinical data, laboratory data, imaging results, treatment regimens, and outcomes data.

Study on the Relationship Between Neutrophil-mediated Thrombocytopenia and the Condition and the...

Hemorrhagic Fever With Renal Syndrome

Thrombocytopenia is an important pathological feature of HFRS(Hemorrhagic Fever With Renal Syndrome, HFRS). However, the cause of thrombocytopenia in HFRS is not yet fully understood. Neutrophils, as the largest number of white blood cells in the human body, can widely participate in the immune process of viral infections. Previous studies have found that the neutrophils of patients with acute myocardial infarction can interact with activated platelets and further mediate platelet phagocytosis. Therefore, this study aims to systematically elucidate the immunological process of neutrophil mediated thrombocytopenia in patients with HFRS by exploring the correlation between platelet activation, neutrophil activation and neutrophil proportion of adherent / phagocytic platelets peripheral blood of HFRS patients, and to analyze its relationship with the course of HFRS disease, which lays a theoretical foundation for further understanding the pathogenesis of HFRS and provides a basis for clinical use.

Hantavirus Registry Gathers Knowledge on Epidemiology, Clinical Course, Prognostic Factors and Molecular...

Hantavirus InfectionsHemorrhagic Fever With Renal Syndrome2 more

Hantavirus disease are zoonotic infections and remain a clinical challenge with globally increasing incidence and multiple serious outbreak situations in Europe within the last years. Hantavirus disease encompasses two clinical syndromes, hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) and hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome (HCPS) caused by Old World and New World hantaviruses, respectively. Depending on the causative Old World hantavirus species, clinical course of HFRS can vary from mild to moderate to severe. At present, there is no specific therapy available for hantavirus disease. As the clinical course of hantavirus disease is dependent on the causing viral pathogen and as there worrisome hints that clinical course HFRS and HCPS overlap, further studies with regard to the disease course are mandatory. Furthermore, the examination of attributable mortality and costs of hantavirus disease will need to be studied on a multinational basis and therefore HantaReg will particularly use a matched case control design.

Hantavirus Nephropathy in North-Eastern France : Severity Risk Factors and Prognostic Tools

Hantavirus NephropathyHantavirus Infection

Hantaviruses are emerging pathogens responsible for hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome. Severity risks factors aren't consensual in litterature, mostly related to scandinavian cohorts. A prognostic score was created to help patient's orientation in healthcare system but wasn't independantly validated (Hentzien, Emerging infectious diseases 2018). This retrospective cohort of hantavirus infected hospitalized adults patients in the north-eastern quarter of France between 2013 and 2022 will specify the kidney damage during infection and risk factors for a severe form (defined par acute kidney injury KDIGO 3). The previous prognostic score performance will be evaluated in this cohort.

Ribavirin for Hemorrhagic Fever With Renal Syndrome in Germany

Hemorrhagic Fever With Renal Syndrome

This is a treatment protocol using IND Ribavirin-there is no control group. Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS) is caused by a virus acquired by contact with chronically infected rodent hosts. HFRS is present throughout Europe and caused mainly by Puumala and Dobrava viruses. Treatment consists mainly of supportive care with careful attention to control of blood pressure and fluid balance and/or dialysis. Early initiation of IND Intravenous Ribavirin has been shown to be an effective treatment for HFRS and may prevent the need for dialysis. It is important to initiate therapy based on a diagnosis consistent with HFRS (determination if the disease is caused by Puumala or Dobrava virus is helpful) and a history that makes exposure likely. This study will monitor the clinical events that occur with HFRS as well as the safety and efficacy of Ribavirin.

Phase 2a Immunogenicity Study of Hantaan/Puumala Virus DNA Vaccine for Prevention of Hemorrhagic...

Hemorrhagic Fever With Renal Syndrome

The purpose of this study is to compare the immune responses of two different doses (1.0 mg and 2.0 mg) and two different dosing schedules (two doses or three doses) of a mixed Hantaan virus (HTNV) and Puumala virus (PUUV) DNA vaccine in healthy participants. To maintain a blind, participants in the two-dose group will receive one dose of normal saline placebo. All of the groups will also receive a booster dose 6 months after first vaccination. The results will help to determine which dose and vaccination schedule will be best to move forward in the vaccine development process.
