A Study Evaluating Slow Response/Non-Rapid Response in Patients With Chronic Hepatitis C, Genotype...

Hepatitis CChronic

This multi-center study will evaluate the viral response in patients with chronic hepatitis C, genotype 1, 2, 3 & 4 on standard anti-viral treatment with Pegasys (peginterferon alfa-2a) and Copegus (ribavirin). Patients will receive weekly subcutaneous Pegasys plus daily oral Copegus for 24 weeks (genotype 2 & 3) or 48 weeks (genotype 1 & 4). Patients identified as slow responders/non-rapid virological responders will be eligible for an additional 24 weeks of treatment.

Study for the Treatment of Significant Steatosis With Xenical Followed by Treatment of Hepatitis...

Fatty LiverHepatitis C

This is a prospective, multi-center, randomized, placebo-controlled trial in subjects with histological evidence of > 33% hepatic steatosis or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and chronic hepatitis C. Patients who have not been previously treated for hepatitis C (treatment naive) will be enrolled.

A Study of Early Immunologic Response in Asian Patients With Chronic Hepatitis B, Treated With Pegasys...

Hepatitis BChronic

This open-label, randomized, parallel-arm study will assess the early immunologic response in treatment-naïve Asian male patients with chronic hepatitis B after initiation of treatment with Pegasys or tenofovir or Pegasys plus tenofovir. Patients will be randomized to one of 4 cohorts to receive either Pegasys (360mcg subcutaneously weekly) or tenofovir (300mg orally daily) or both or no treatment for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks on study treatment, patients may opt to receive standard of care treatment with Pegasys. Target sample size is <50.

NATURAL HISTORY-Hepatitis C Virus/ Human Immunodeficiency Virus Coinfection

Hepatitis CHIV1 more

The purpose of this study was to describe the time course and extent of hemoglobin (Hb) changes and the erythropoietic response to PEG-IFN/RBV (Pegylated Interferon and Ribavirin)-induced anemia In HCV(hepatitis C virus)/HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) co-Infected subjects.

Statins in Chronic Hepatitis C Patients Receiving Sofosbuvir/Daclatasvir Combination

Chronic Hepatitis cMetabolic Syndrome

The purpose of the study is to determine if statin can affect the clinical outcome of chronic hepatitis C patients receiving Sofosbuvir/Daclatasvir/Ribavirin combination

Patient AdherenceChronic Hepatitis C1 more

This study implement a values-based motivational interviewing (VBMI) intervention to promote treatment completion with fixed dose combination (FDC) MK-5172/MK-8742 x 12 weeks among 30 Veterans with substance use disorder (SUD) and treatment naïve genotype 1 chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection.

Pentoxyphilline Versus Fecal Microbiota Therapy in Severe Alcoholic Hepatitis

Alcoholic Hepatitis

Treatment for severe alcoholic hepatitis patients not eligible for steroid therapy is a dilemma. Pentoxyfilline has been shown to have no improvement in outcomes as per current studies and liver transplantation is with great risk of recidivism in this difficult to treat cohort of patients. Dysbiosis forms the central role in severe alcoholic hepatitis patients and modulation of gut microbiota by way of healthy donor fecal transplantation could prove to be a novel way to treating these patients who are ineligible for standard therapy. This study utilizes correction of dysbiosis in severe alcoholic hepatitis and surveys outcomes with the same with respect to survival and liver disease severity scores.

Efficacy of G-CSF in the Management of Steroid Non-responsive Severe Alcoholic Hepatitis

Severe Alcoholic Hepatitis

After successful screening, first the investigators first treat patients of severe alcoholic hepatitis with steroids for 7 days. Patients who are found to be unresponsive as per Lille's score [>0.45] would be randomized into either placebo group or G-CSF group. Responders to steroids will continue on steroids for 28 days followed by 2 weeks of tapering. Non responders will be randomized to receive G-CSF for 28days.

A Multiple Dose Study of Grazoprevir (MK-5172) in Hepatitis C-Infected Participants (MK-5172-010)...

Hepatitis C

The goal of this study was to compare hepatic pharmacokinetics (PK) derived from liver tissue to plasma PK after administration of grazoprevir (MK-5172) to participants with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Participants will be randomized to one of four different liver ultrasound-guided Fine Needle Aspirate (FNA) schedules (at 4-, 8-, 24-, or 72-hours after the Day 7 dose).

Intravenous Interferon During Liver Transplant

Hepatitis CCirrhosis

The main goal of this study is to prevent liver allograft infection with Hepatitis C virus in hepatitis C positive patients undergoing liver transplantation. The hypothesis is that patients who receive ribavirin immediately before transplant and intravenous interferon alfa 2b during the anhepatic phase(while the liver is removed)will have sustained virologic response post liver transplant.
