A Phase I/II Study of Delayed-Type Hypersensitivity (DTH) Reactions to Intradermal HIV Envelope...

HIV Infections

To determine the frequency of delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) reactions in HIV-positive patients to two doses of two envelope glycoprotein antigens prepared differently. To determine whether patients who have previously demonstrated a DTH response to intradermal MGStage HIV-1 gp160 IIIB baculovirus (MicroGeneSys) have a reproducible response to a repeat injection of gp160 and whether there is cross-reactivity to intradermal HIV-1 rgp160 IIIB vero cell expressed (Immuno-AG). PER 4/5/95 AMENDMENT: To also determine whether patients who respond to HIV-1 rgp160 IIIB baculovirus (MicroGeneSys) have cross-reactivity to intradermal skin tests of HIV-1 rgp160 MN (Immuno-AG). Previous studies in individuals immunized with gp160 suggest that a skin test response in immunized patients can be used as a surrogate marker for new proliferative and cytotoxic responses induced by vaccination.

Visual Outcomes and Contrast Sensitivity After Myopic LASIK

Myopia

Evaluate visual outcomes and contrast sensitivity for subjects undergoing bilateral myopic LASIK procedure using the 200 kHz WaveLight® FS200 Femtosecond Laser and the WaveLight® Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser. The use of advanced technology may decrease the loss of contrast sensitivity and improvement of postoperative visual acuity results.

Efficacy of a New Thickened Extensively Hydrolyzed Formula

Protein AllergyCow's Milk Protein Hypersensitivity

Cow Milk Allergy (CMA) occurs in 2 to 5 % of all infants. Reflux, regurgitation and vomiting are well recognised symptoms of CMA. The recommended treatment of CMA is an extensive hydrolysate. The North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) & the European Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) reflux guidelines have no strict recommendations for the treatment of distressed infants with reflux, suspected of CMA. One of the preferred proposed options is to thicken an extensive hydrolysate . This study aims at evaluating the additional value of a thickened extensive hydrolysate in children suspected of CMA and presenting with frequent regurgitation.

A Study to Evaluate the Incidence of Hypersensitivity After Administration of Sugammadex in Healthy...

HypersensitivityAnaphylaxis

The purpose of this study is to assess the potential for hypersensitivity symptoms upon repeat exposure to sugammadex. Healthy participants will be randomized to one of three treatment arms: sugammadex 4 mg/kg, sugammadex 16 mg/kg or placebo. Participants will receive 3 single intravenous (IV) doses of their randomized treatment, with an approximately 5-week washout between Dose 1 and Dose 2 and between Dose 2 and Dose 3. Participants will be confined at the study center from the day before each dose until completion of the 24-hour post dose assessments.

Evaluation of Post-operative Sensitivity of Bulk Fill Resin Composite Versus the Nano Resin Composite....

Sensitivity

Our study evaluated and compared the postoperative sensitivity of the placement technique (incremental and bulk fill) in class II posterior composite resin restorations bonded with two different adhesive strategies (self-etch and etch-and-rinse).Sixty patients were randomly selected, their age range from 25 to 40 years old. They were divided into 2 main groups according to the packing technique of composite material; incremental Tetric Evoceram and Tetric Evoceram bulk fill composite.30 patients (n=30) were selected for incremental Tetric Evoceram composite restorations and they were equally divided according to the adhesive systems used (etch and rinse or self-etch adhesive strategy) (n=15 teeth).30 patients (n=30) were selected for Tetric Evoceram bulk fill composite restorations and they were equally divided according to the adhesive systems used (etch and rinse or self-etch adhesive strategy) (n=15 teeth).Post-operative pain assessed at 24 hours, 1 week and 1 month using the visual Analog Scale Score (VAS).Each patient was instructed to place a vertical mark on the VAS line at home to indicate the intensity of pain at each assessment period.

Dietary Treatment of Endometriosis-related Irritable Bowel Syndrome

EndometriosisIrritable Bowel Syndrome2 more

Many patients with endometriosis experience extra genital and abdominal symptoms as a major part of their problem. This includes gastrointestinal dysfunction with pain, urinary symptoms compatible with interstitial cystitis and gastrointestinal symptoms resembling the irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Such problems may be secondary to changes in autonomous neuronal structure and function elicited by the endometriotic elements, which may cause a "visceral syndrome" with the above mentioned symptoms. The investigators hypothesize that dietary treatment will improve the experience of gastrointestinal symptoms, pain and quality of life in patients with endometriosis-related irritable bowel syndrome. The aim of this first randomized, placebo controlled pilot study investigating patients with both endometriosis and IBS, is to test the application of a low FODMAP diet and a placebo diet for endometriosis-related IBS-like symptoms in order to stablish a platform for a randomized controlled study. Thus, the primary aim of this pilot study is to investigate the applicability of a placebo diet in patients with endometriosis and to investigate the compliance in both intervention group and control group. In addition, the aim is to investigate whether the participants find the diet manageable and whether they are able to identify the placebo diet.
