Latin American Pulmonary Hypertension Registry
Pulmonary HypertensionThe RELAHP registry is a Latin-American multinational, multicenter, prospective observational registry-type cohort study, which pretends to identify clinical characteristics, clinical course, management and outcome of all forms of pulmonary hypertension (PH). All consecutively consented patients newly diagnosed with WHO Group I-V PH according to specific hemodynamic criteria on right heart catheterization at the participating centers will be enrolled. Patients will be followed six-monthly for a minimum of five years from the time of enrollment.
Association of Dipping Pattern or Early Morning Surge of BP With Asymptomatic Episodes of Paroxysmal...
Hypertension - Atrial FibrillationThe goals of our study are to determine a).the association between abnormal circadian BP and the development of paroxysmal AF in hypertensive patients, b).at which level of TOD, paroxysmal AF episodes are detected in hypertensive subjects, c).if there is any association between systolic and/or diastolic BP levels with AF occurrence, d).whether the mean heart rate during a 24-hr interval is associated with the development of paroxysmal AF, and finally e).examine the relationship between a wide PP and asymptomatic AF episodes in patients with HTN.
Meta-analyses of Impotrant Food Sources of Sugars and Incident Cardiometabolic Diseases
Diabetes MellitusType 25 moreThere is an urgent need for stronger evidence to support recommendations for the role of sugars in diabetes and related cardiometabolic diseases. Although large prospective cohort studies have shown a significant positive association of fructose-containing sugars-sweetened beverages with incident obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke, these associations do not appear to hold true for total fructose-containing sugars and other important sources of free fructose-containing sugars such as pure fruit juice, yogurt, or even cakes and sweets. As dietary guidelines have moved away from macronutrient centric recommendations towards more food and dietary-pattern based recommendations, this inconsistency in the data has not been appreciated. There remains a focus on free sugars, in the absence of sufficient information on the role of different food sources of fructose-containing sugars in diabetes and related cardiometabolic diseases. A systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies is considered to be the "Gold Standard" of evidence. To provide evidence-based guidance to support the development of public health policy in relation sugars and the primary prevention of diabetes, we will conduct a series of systematic reviews and meta-analyses of the relation of food sources of fructose-containing sugars with incident type 2 diabetes and related cardiometabolic diseases in prospective cohort studies.
Value of Von Willebrand Factor in Portal Hypertension
Liver CirrhosisPortal HypertensionIn patients with liver cirrhosis elevated levels of von Willebrand factor antigen (vWF-Ag) are found frequently but the clinical significance is unclear. vWF-Ag plays an important role in primary haemostasis and development of thrombotic vascular obliteration is discussed as a possible mechanism leading to portal hypertension. Invasive measurement of hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) is the current gold standard for the diagnosis of portal hypertension. The investigators hypothesize that vWF-Ag levels in plasma may correlate with portal pressure and predict clinically significant portal hypertension (CSPH, HVPG >=10mmHg) and its complications.
Predictors of Blood Pressure Control and Associations With Cardiovascular Diseases in Individuals...
StrokeMyocardial Infarction2 moreCurrent guidelines for the clinical management of hypertension in adults recommend to achieve and maintain blood pressure levels of <140/90 mmHg. However, it is uncertain what proportion of individuals identified with high blood pressure in primary care actually reach blood pressure control, what factors are associated with attainment of control and to what extent blood pressure control attainment is associated with cardiovascular diseases in a contemporary population of individuals diagnosed with high blood pressure. The aim of this study is to investigate the extent to which patients achieve blood pressure control and associated risk factors, time to attainment of blood pressure control and whether this time is associated with an increased risk of CVD onset, all-cause and cardiovascular disease and end-stage renal disease.
Nocturnal Blood Pressure and Hypertension - Central and Peripheral 24-h Blood Pressure.
HypertensionChronic Kidneys Disease1 moreA new study have shown that high night time blood pressure (BP) and/or non-dipping (lack of fall in BP during night time) is a strong predictor for the risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality in patients with hypertension. Three factors seem to affect the night time BP: chronic kidney disease, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and the way ambulatory blood pressure is monitored. Hypothesis: Central 24-h blood pressure monitoring is a better way of monitoring blood pressure than conventional peripheral monitoring. In hypertension, chronic kidney disease and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) the night time blood pressure is elevated, and is OSA the elevation is correlated to the severity of OSA. In OSA the kidneys handling of salt and water is disturbed. In OSA there is disturbances in hormonal balance.
Levamlodipine Maleate or Amlodipine Besylate for Treatment of Hypertension: A Comparative Effectiveness...
Primary HypertensionThe purpose of this study is to determine whether the effectiveness of levamlodipine maleate (xuanning) is noninferior to amlodipine besylate (Norvasc) in treatment of hypertension in a Chinese primary hypertension population.
Emerging Biomarkers in Hypertension
HypertensionFirst of all to evaluate the relationship between non-conventional biomarkers and essential hypertension; then to evaluate the effects of various anti-hypertensive drugs on blood pressure control and non-conventional biomarkers in naive hypertensive patients
Pulmonary Hypertension: Efficacy of a 3 Week Inpatient Rehabilitation on Physical Condition, Body...
Pulmonary Hypertension: Efficacy of RehabilitationPulmonary hypertension (PH) leads to impaired physical condition (PC), body composition (BC) and health-related quality of life (HRQOL). We hypothesized that a 3 week inpatient pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) improves PC, BC and HRQOL.
Intravascular Ultrasound Evaluation of Renal Nerves in Different Diseases
HypertensionHeart FailureSympathetic hyperactivity is a causal or a promoting factor in many diseases, under these conditions, some morphology changes due to the hyperactivity occur. Renal nerve is an important part in the autonomic nervous system regulation, especially in cardiovascular system, the modulation of the renal nerves used as a therapeutic strategy has been researched across the world. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and quantify the morphology changes in different diseases, make the modulation therapy more selective and effective.
