Hypothesis: The application of digital capacitive diathermy on myofascial trigger points of the trapezius muscle compared to the application of ultrasound produces objective changes in muscle tone, and this change is superior to the changes generated by the US.

Effectiveness of Resistive Capacitive Diathermy in Patients Affected by Knee Osteoarthritis
Knee OsteoarthritisIt is a double-blind randomized sham-controlled clinical trial to evaluate the effectiveness of resistive capacitive diathermy in subjects affected by knee osteoarthritis in comparison with a "sham" diathermy treatment. The resistive capacitive diathermy is a medical device supplying low (448 KHz) radiofrequencies with maximum output power of 200 W, used to reduce pain and inflammation and allowing healing processes. The sham diathermy treatment is administered with the device set on "on" but not active (not supplying energy). Each subject, randomly assigned to either resistive capacitive diathermy treatment (group 1) or sham-treatment (group 2) is submitted to a thirty minutes session, three times per week for a total of ten sessions. The outcome measures are the WOMAC scale (Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index) to assess pain and physical functioning, a visual analogic scale (VAS) for pain, the femoral quadriceps strength (MRC = Medical Research Council Scale). Outcome measures are administered at baseline (T0), at the end of the treatment protocol (T1), at 1 month (T2) and 3 months (T3) after the end of treatment.

Patients will be assigned to one of the two treatments by chance and followed for 6 months. The two treatment groups will be compared to see which treatment is more likely to make the patient better.
Microwave Diathermy for Treating Nonspecific Chronic Neck Pain
Neck PainThis randomised controlled trial aims to compare the effect of microwave diathermy (continuous and pulsed modes) with sham microwave diathermy in nonspecific chronic neck pain patients. Every patient will also be treated by exercise and transcutaneous electrical neurostimulation (TENS). The primary endpoint is to establish whether the use of microwaves is justified in terms of pain relief or reduction of disability in this patients.

Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining chemotherapy with whole-body hyperthermia may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of whole-body hyperthermia plus combination chemotherapy in treating patients who have advanced sarcoma that is metastatic or that cannot be surgically removed.
Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Oxaliplatin for Peritoneal Malignancies
Peritoneal Cavity CancerRATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as oxaliplatin, leucovorin, and fluorouracil, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Hyperthermia therapy kills tumor cells by heating them to several degrees above normal body temperature. Peritoneal infusion of heated and nonheated chemotherapy drugs after surgery may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of hyperthermic intraperitoneal oxaliplatin followed by intraperitoneal leucovorin and fluorouracil in treating patients with peritoneal cancer.
