Efficacy of Pulsatile GnRH Therapy on Male Patients With Pituitary Stalk Interruption Syndrome
Hypogonadotropic HypogonadismTo investigate the hormone response of hypothalamic-pituitary-gonad axis and spermatogenesis in male pituitary stalk interruption syndrome patients by pulsatile GnRH therapy.
Comparison of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Outcomes Between Two Protocols of Induction...
InfertilityWe wanted to compare the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) outcomes between two protocols of induction of ovulation in patients with Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism. In the beginning, all patients receive Recombinant Follicle Stimulating Hormone (Gonal-F) and Recombinant Luteinizing Hormone (Luveris). When at least one follicle reaches 14 mm in diameter, Luveris alone is administered for group A and both drugs Gonal-F and Luveris for group B. Finally Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) results are compared between the two groups.
Calciotropic Effects After hCG Stimulation Test
HypogonadismMaleWe have in a pilot study found that serum calcium levels change in response to hCG stimulation test. We observed that serum calcium level measured at baseline and 72 hours after hCG stimulation were different in men with gonadal insufficiency referred for this stimulation test. Now we want to investigate a large cohort of men referred for hCG stimulation test due to suspected impaired gonadal function.
Symptoms and Clinical Signs of Hypogonadism in Testicular Cancer Survivors
Metabolic SyndromeHypogonadism1 moreThe purpose of this study is to investigate the prevalence of signs and symptoms of hypogonadism in three groups of testicular cancer survivors.
Gonadal Dysfunction in Male Long-term Survivors of Malignant Lymphoma; Vitality-Obs
HypogonadismThis study is an observational cross-sectional study which aims to investigate the relationship between treatment with chemotherapy and the development of low levels of testosterone in the blood in patients cured for aggressive lymphoma. We hypothesize that patients in turn will develop sexual dysfunction and poor quality of life because of this reduced level of testosterone. Cancer treatment is increasingly effective and the overall survival higher, which makes issues like sexuality and long-term quality of life more and more important to address in cured cancer patients. Patient sexuality and quality of life is measured by 3 questionnaires filled out once, and serum testosterone by a single blood sample. If serum testosterone is in the lower part of the normal reference interval, patients will be offered further hormonal evaluation by department of growth and reproduction at Copenhagen University Hospital. We hope to show that future follow up visits should include focus on sexuality and serum testosterone. Questionnaires and blood samples can be implemented easily and without great cost.
Sperm Retrieval Rates in Non-obstructive Azoospermic Men Subjected to Gonadotropin Therapy
Non-obstructive AzoospermiaHormone Deficiency3 moreAzoospermia is defined as the complete absence of spermatozoa in the ejaculate. Two-thirds of azoospermic patients have non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA); the latter comprises up to 10% of infertile men overall. NOA is an untreatable testicular disorder associated with spermatogenic failure and is the most severe male infertility phenotype. Among the available surgical sperm retrieval techniques, microdissection testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE) is the procedure of choice due to its high sperm retrieval success rates (SRR), minimal tissue extraction, and low complication rates. Even with the use of micro-TESE, the likelihood of retrieving sperm in patients with NOA remain suboptimal (40% to 60%). Hypogonadism is detected in approximately half of the patients with NOA. Given the role of intratesticular testosterone (ITT) levels for spermatogenesis, some studies have explored the clinical utility of testosterone optimization by medical therapy before sperm retrieval. Moreover, some investigators have hypothesized that the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) reset might increase the expression of FSH receptors and improve Sertoli cell function. Hormonal therapy with human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) has been shown to improve ITT production and decrease FSH levels in patients with NOA. The investigators, therefore, designed an observational cohort study aiming to evaluate whether hormone stimulation with gonadotropins (e.g., hCG alone or combined with FSH) previous to micro-TESE increases sperm retrieval rates in hypogonadal infertile men with NOA, candidates for sperm retrieval. The investigators hypothesize that optimizing ITT production and resetting FSH levels may improve spermatogenesis and successful sperm recovery.
Plasma RBP Levels in Patients With Idiopathic Hypogonadotrophic Hypogonadism
Idiopathic Hypogonadotropic HypogonadismThe aim of the present study was to demonstrate the RBP4 levels, association of RBP4 with insulin resistance and influence of testosterone treatment on this cytokine in patients with idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.
A Bioequivalence Study of Testosterone Cypionate in Hypogonadal Males
HypogonadismThis is an open-label, 2-treatment, 2-period, single dose (200 mg, IM) cross-over study, 2-part design to evaluate the bioequivalence (BE) of a reformulated presentation (test) of testosterone cypionate solution for injection relative to the currently approved marked formulation (reference). In the first part of the study (Part 1), an estimate of the exposure variability will be evaluated for both test and reference. This will help guide sample size in Part 2. Part 2 will be powered to assess the BE of both test and reference formulations.
Efficacy of Androgen Substitution for Hypogonadism in Men With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
T2DM (Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus)HypogonadismThe purpose of the study is to get data of prevalence of testosterone deficiency in patient with T2DM in Russian Federation
Survey of Testosterone Levels in Male Cancer Patients
HypogonadismThe purpose of this study is to survey the total serum testosterone levels in male patients with hormone-independent malignancies. The prevalence of hypogonadism is not known, but is thought to be significant. Results will be adjusted for age and stratified for type of cancer, stage, study site, and presence of opiate use for pain management, which is known to reduce testosterone levels.
