Elderly patients generally have a tendency for having sarcopenia which refers to muscle loss that may be related to many factors. These patients also have a tendency to falls and injuries. Whether elderly sarcopenic patients have abrupt blood pressure drops upon standing remains unknown. Therefore, in this study, we sought to determine the incidence of orthostatic hypotension in sarcopenic elderly patients and compare it with elderly patients with no sarcopenia.

Incidence and pathophysiologic hemodynamics of orthostatic intolerance and orthostatic hypotension in patients undergoing UKA

The study is examining differences in central arterial stiffness, orthostatic changes in blood pressure, norepinephrine, and plasma renin in individuals with spinal cord injury compared with age-matched uninjured controls.

The purpose of this observational study is to evaluate the baroreceptor function in relation to surgical inflammation and orthostatic intolerance after elective hip arthroplasty. The main hypothesis is that baroreceptor function is attenuated after surgery and related to surgical inflammation.

Objective:to determent if children suffering from acute febrile illness has higher rate of orthostatic hypotension compared with children with no febrile illness. Design: a prospective cohort study. Based on the patient's heart rate variability, the analgesia nociception index (ANI) measures the activity of the autonomic nervous system and the sympathetic/parasympathetic nervous system and expresses it as a numerical value through a specific algorithm. The investigators will analyze it and see if it has the ability to predict severe hypotension following spinal anesthesia.

The aim of this study is to investigate the association between the severity and duration of intraoperative hypotension and the incidence of perioperative stroke after non-cardiac and non-neurologic surgeries.The secondary aim of this study is to confirm the potential risk factors of the perioperative stroke.
