Evaluating the NeoTree in Malawi and Zimbabwe

PrematurityNeonatal Encephalopathy8 more

Neonatal mortality remains unacceptably high. Globally, the majority of mothers now deliver in health facilities in low resource settings where quality of newborn care is poor. Health systems strengthening through digitial quality improvement systems, such as the Neotree, are a potential solution. The overarching aim of this study is to complete the co-development of NeoTree-gamma with key functionalities configured, operationalised, tested and ready for large scale roll out across low resource settings. Specific study objectives are as follows: To further develop and test the NeoTree at tertiary facilities in Malawi and Zimbabwe To investigate HCPs and parent/carer view of the NeoTree, including how acceptable and usable HCWs find the app, and potential barriers and enablers to implementing/using it in practice. To collect outcome data for newborns from representative sites where NeoTree is not implemented. To test the clinical validity of key NeoTree diagnostic algorithms, e.g. neonatal sepsis and hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) against gold standard or best available standard diagnoses. To add dashboards and data linkage to the functionality of the NeoTree To develop and test proof of concept for communicating daily electronic medical records (EMR) using NeoTree To initiate a multi-country network of newborn health care workers, policy makers and academics. To estimate cost of implementing NeoTree at all sites and potential costs at scale

A Survey of Neonatal Surgery Practices in India

Neonatal Disorder

The study will follow a cross-sectional survey design. The target population for the survey was neonatologists, paediatricians, paediatric surgeons and neonatal surgeons treating the newborn infants. The study will be nationwide survey of neonatal specialists regarding the common neonatal surgeries performed in the tertiary care teaching hospital in India. This cross-sectional survey study will commence once the project is approved by DST's Start-up Research Grant (SRG) approval committee and will continue for the period of two years. The protocol of this study was approved by the Institutional Ethics committee of the recognized tertiary care teaching university and will be conducted in accordance with the declaration of Helsinki guideline (Revised) 2013 and Indian Council of Medical Research guidelines 2017.

Fast Exome for Diagnosis of Congenital Conditions in Infants Under 12 Months of Age Hospitalized...

InfantNewborn4 more

An early diagnosis of congenital malformations and suspected genetic conditions in critically ill infants is essential to perform specific adapted care, prevention, and give proper genetic counseling. However, etiologies are various and each of them is individually very rare. Thanks to next-generation sequencing technologies, diagnosis time frames have drastically decreased and the investigators have observed an increase in diagnosis yields. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of fast trio exome sequencing (less than 16 days between informed consent signature and the consultation for results to the parents) in infants under the age of 12 months hospitalized in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Characteristics of Neonatal Covid-19 in Turkey

COVID-19Neonatal Disease1 more

The investigators aimed to investigate the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of neonates who will be born to Covid-19 positive mothers in Turkey. It is a multicentric prospective cohort study designed and destined only in Turkey. The investigators are planning to admit more than 20 Neonatal Intensive Care Units into the survey; nevertheless, the total number may change according to the prevalence of Covid-19 in neonates. The investigators will also inquire into vertical transmission by collecting cord blood, placental, and postnatal serum samples to test for Covid-19 PCR and Covid-19 Ig M and IgG values from the neonates.
