Dynamic Changes of Torquetenovirus (TTV) Load in Chinese Renal Transplant Recipients

Kidney Transplant RejectionKidney Transplant Infection2 more

The goal of this observational study is to learn about dynamic changes of Torquetenovirus (TTV) load in Chinese renal transplant recipients. The main questions it aims to answer are: Is there correlation between TTV load and rejection? Is there correlation between TTV load and infection? Can changes in the TTV load of kidney transplant recipients predict rejection or infection? Participants will: receive 13 follow-up visits within 1 year after kidney transplantation provide 2 ml of whole blood for TTV load testing and other related testing at each follow-up provide 10 ml of whole blood for dd-cfDNA testing at four follow-ups (1, 3, 6 and 12 months after transplantation) provide 1 ml of serum for donor-specific antibody testing at three follow-ups (1, 6 and 12 months after transplantation)

Human Papillomavirus in Young People Epidemiological Research 3

Human Papillomavirus InfectionHPV5 more

Anal cancer is overrepresented among gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM), particularly those living with HIV. Australia was the first country to introduce a publicly funded national HPV vaccination program in 2007. This program was expanded to include schoolboys aged 12-13 years in 2013; with a 2-year catch-up for boys aged up to 15 years. In 2018, the 9-valent vaccine (covering genotypes 6/11/16/18/31/33/45/52/58) replaced the 4-valent vaccine in the national program. The goal of the HYPER3 study is to determine the prevalence of anal, genital and oral HPV among 200 young gay and bisexual men aged 16-20 years who were eligible for the school-based 9-valent vaccination. Participants will be required to complete a questionnaire and provide samples for HPV testing. No follow-up visits will be required.

Multi-Center Molecular Diagnosis and Host Response of Respiratory Viral Infections in Pediatric...

Hematopoietic Cell TransplantSolid Organ Transplant1 more

The participants are being asked to take part in this clinical trial, a type of research study, because the participants are scheduled to receive or have recently received a hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) or a solid organ transplant (SOT). Primary Objective To determine if pre-transplant screening for respiratory viral load predicts RVI within 1- year post-transplant among survivors. Secondary Objectives: To develop and validate a classifier based on pre-transplant immunological profile predictive of developing an acute respiratory viral infection (aRVI), with RSV/PIV3/HMPV/SARS-CoV-2 through one-year post-transplant among survivors. To develop and validate a classifier based on Day +100 post-transplant immunological profiles predictive of developing an acute respiratory viral infection (aRVI),with RSV/PIV3/HMPV/SARS-CoV-2 through one-year post-transplant among survivors .

Infant RSV Infections and Health-related Quality of Life of Families

RSV InfectionQuality of Life3 more

Until today, there is only little information available on how severe RSV infection leading to hospitalisation of the infant impacts the quality of life of affected families. For the ResQ Family project, an online questionnaire will be used to survey parents or caregivers of children up to 24 months currently or recently hospitalised (length of hospital stay of at least 12 hours and hospital admission no longer than 4 weeks ago) due to RSV infection. The aim of the ResQ Family project is to find out how infant RSV hospitalisation impacts the quality of life of affected children and their families. The goal is further to provide scientific evidence on the burden of RSV and raise awareness among all relevant stakeholders including healthcare professionals and patient representatives, decision-makers and the general public. The project will run until June 2024. Data collection will take place during the RSV season from fall 2022 to spring 2023 in four European countries: France, Germany, Italy, and Sweden.

Steadysense -Early Detection of Postoperative Infections Through Continuous Temperature Measurement...

Body TemperaturePostoperative Infection1 more

The goal of this observational study is to review whether postoperative infections can be detected earlier by a continuous measurement of body temperature of patients compared to single daily measurements. Within 25 weeks 100 patients, which underwent visceral surgery less than 48h ago, will be included. A patch (Steadytemp ®) will be attached to participants, continuously measuring the body temperature. In addition infection parameters and medication of the participants will be documented.

Cutaneous Microbiota Evolution in ICU Patients With CVC (ICMc)

DysbiosisCatheter-Related Infections

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients are exposed to catheter-related infections with an important morbidity. Catheter colonization is constant but infection is not. Cutaneous dysbiosis could be the missing link. Our study aims to evaluate the evolution of cutaneous microbiota in ICU patients with a central venous catheter in place, through metagenomics. Our main objective is to evaluate the evolution of alpha-diversity, quantified by intra-patient variation of Shannon diversity index (a diversity index used in bacterial metagenomics).

Antibiotic Therapy in Infections of the Diabetic Foot Syndrome

Diabetic Foot Infection

This retrospective study examines the surgical and antibiotic treatment of diabetic foot syndrome infections treated at the University Hospital Basel since 2019. It analyses the implementation of the hospital in-house guidelines published in 2019 with regard to antibiotic therapy in diabetic foot infections, taking into account clinical, microbiological and histopathological criteria. The defined endpoints are (i) fully compliant with internal policies, (ii) partially compliant with internal policies, and (iii) not compliant with internal policies. The recording of these proportions is descriptive.
