Study of PEG-rIL-29 (or PEG-IFN Lambda) in Subjects With Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection

Hepatitis CChronic

Interleukin 29 (IL-29) is a substance that is produced in the body to help fight viral infections. The purpose of this study is to test the safety and antiviral effects of PEG-rIL-29 (a man-made form of IL-29) when it is given either by itself at different doses or in combination with the approved dose of ribavirin (an antiviral drug) to subjects with hepatitis C infection who have received no prior treatment for this disease or who have relapsed following previous treatment with PEGylated interferon alpha (PEG-IFN-α), or other form of IFN-α, and ribavirin.

Administration of Virus-Specific Cytotoxic T-Lymphocytes

Adenovirus Infection

The main purpose of this study is to see if these T-lymphocytes are safe. To make these Ad-specific T lymphocytes the investigators will obtain blood from the stem cell donor and transfer Ad into another type of blood cell, called monocytes. These cells can then stimulate the T lymphocytes and train them to kill cells infected with Ad. The investigators will then grow these Ad-specific T lymphocytes by more stimulation with Ad-infected monocytes and a third type of blood cell called a B lymphoblast from the donor. After testing the T -lymphocytes, the investigators will inject them into patients after transplant who are at high risk of serious Ad virus infection. The investigators will make sure the injected cells are safe and see if they affect the growth and behavior of adenoviruses in the patient's own body.

Ascending Single Dose Study of Rhu-pGelsolin in Patients With Decreased Gelsolin Levels

Low GelsolinTrauma2 more

This study is designed to assess the pharmacokinetics and safety of an infusion of a single dose of recombinant plasma gelsolin (rhu-pGelsolin) when given to patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit with documented low levels of natural gelsolin. It is believed that this drug will raise the gelsolin levels in these patients and decrease the probability that they will develop complications from their underlying disease such as organ system failure or death.
