Vaginal Care System for Menopausal Women With Urinary Tract Infections

Urinary Tract InfectionsVaginal Flora Imbalance

Menopausal women have an increased risk of recurrent urinary tract infections. This is likely due in part to hormonal changes occurring during menopause. As estrogen falls, the vaginal microbiome shifts from a healthy one to a less healthy one. Because the vagina is close to the urethra, this vaginal microbiome shift contributes to a loss of protection against urinary tract infections (UTIs). The investigators are asking whether improving the vaginal microbiome using an over-the-counter vaginal hygiene system can reduce frequency of recurrent UTI in menopausal women.

New Strategy for the Detection and Treatment of Helicobacter Pylori Infections in Primary Care Guided...

Helicobacter Pylori Infection

In France, every year 1 million people are explored for Helicobacter pylori infection and 200,000 receive eradication treatment. Faced with the high prevalence of Hp resistance to antibiotics, the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS) has recommended since 2017 a treatment strategy guided by the results of bacteriological tests (culture and antibiogram and / or PCR) carried out from gastric biopsies. Guided therapy is more effective, cheaper, and better tolerated than empiric therapy (it includes fewer antibiotics). But the guided treatment is not used despite the recommendations because of the invasive nature of the endoscopy, the difficulty of culture and the non-reimbursement of the PCR. A new non-invasive test by real-time PCR performed on the stools of patients makes it possible to detect the Hp infection and its sensitivity to clarithromycin and therefore to guide the treatment with excellent performance as we have been able to demonstrate during a study including 1200 patients (Pichon et al J Clin Microbiol 2020). These characteristics allow this test to be used in primary care but has to be evaluated.

Clinical Trial of Mica

Latent Tuberculosis Infection

This study used a randomized, open, blank control design. A total of 6800 patients over 15 years old with latent mycobacterium tuberculosis infection who met the inclusion criteria but did not meet the exclusion criteria were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the blank control group in a 1:1 ratio, with 3400 patients in each group. The experimental group was alternately injected with 1 dose of microcard every two weeks (0-2-4-6-8-10 weeks) in the left and right hip muscle deep, with a total of 6 doses. The blank control group was not injected with drugs.

Anti-Schistosomiasis Sm14-vaccine in Senegal

Schistosomiasis MansoniSchistosomiasis Haematobium1 more

Previous clinical trials have already demonstrated the safety of the candidate vaccine in adults as well as in children, in good health or infected with schistosomiasis. Regarding the induced immune response, more than 80% of vaccinated subjects were seroconverted after three vaccine injections. The induced immune response was substantial but transient. In order to obtain a more lasting immune response, the investigator will experiment with a new vaccination schedule (2 injections 1-month interval and the 3rd injection 5 months after the first dose), versus the vaccine schedule initially used (3 injections at 1-month interval). This trial will be the last phase 2 before testing the efficacy of the rSm14 vaccine candidate.

Oral Vancomycin vs Placebo in the Prevention of Recurrence of Clostridioides Difficile's Infection...

Clostridioides Difficile Infection

A phase III randomized clinical trial in proportion 2:1 in favor of oral vancomycin (experimental treatment), multicentric, national, double-blinded, controlled with placebo. The main objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment with oral vancomycin to reduce the incidence of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) in patients who suffered previous CDI and who need further hospitalization and treatment with systemic antibiotic therapy in the 90 days after the first CDI.

Effect of Chlorhexidine Solution in Preventing Peripheral Venous Catheter Associated-Infection

Catheter-Associated Infections

This research aims to determine the most effective chlorhexidine concentration to be used in preventing peripheral venous catheter-associated infections. This research is a randomized controlled double-blinded experimental design. This research will conduct between July 2022-June 2023 with 96 intensive care patients at a state hospital in Turkey. The study sample consist of 96 new insertions of peripheral venous catheters. The study will carried out as a experimental trial to compare the efficacy 1%, 2% and 4% clorhexidine gluconate and 70% alcohol in preventing infections due to catheter administrations in patients. Patients who fulfilled the inclusion criteria is randomized according to the randomization programme into three experimental groups and the control group. "Patient Information Form", "Catheter Information Form" and "Observational Form" will used to collect data. The vital findings and local infection findings of the patients that peripheral venous catheter is inserted will followed and recorded at pre-insertion and once every 24 hours for 96 hours. Culture analyze will performed from swab example taken from catheter entry location at pre-insertion,1st hour and pre removal of catheter.Data will analyzed in statistical program and p<0,05 will considered as significant.

ESAN II - Energy Sensing in Depression

Immune System ToleranceDepression4 more

The purpose of this study is to assess the effects of polyphenols from natural aronia juice on the immune system. Therefore, the study aims to distinguish the effects of natural juices that are rich in phytonutrients such as polyphenols and carotenoids in healthy and depressive subjects in order to use the known positive effects of these food sources in the therapeutic setting. The consumption of natural fruit juices that are rich in polyphenols and carotenoids mirror a model of vegetarian diet due to the increased micronutrient density derived from plant food. Results obtained here can be seen as preliminary explanation models for the beneficial effects of vegetarian diet. It is hypothesized, that the consumption of naturally polyphenol rich aronia juice changes the expression of regulatory T cells, specific cells of the immunesystem that contribute to immunomodulation. Furthermore, beneficial changes in the gut microbiome, the metabolome and the nutritional status are expected in the studied groups. The study was registered retrospectively (after start of recruitment) on Clinicaltrials.gov.
