Clinical Study of a Diagnostic Device for NG, TV and CT in Women

Chlamydial InfectionGonococcal Infection1 more

This is a multi-center study with a minimum of three sites in the United States. The study will enroll approximately 1750 female subjects, 14 years of age and older, and will have a study duration of approximately 9 months after enrollment of the first subject. Female subjects seen at the participating sites for any reason will be evaluated for enrollment in this study. All subjects will be managed per standard of care as applicable. Subjects who are enrolled in the study will perform self-collection of a vaginal swab to be tested by Click device and allow the health care provider (HCP) to collect three additional vaginal swabs to be tested by recognized FDA-cleared comparator methods. Subjects will complete the study in a single visit. The primary objective is to assess the performance of the Click device for detection of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT), Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG), and Trichomonas vaginalis (TV) in self-collected vaginal specimens as compared to Patient Infected Status (PIS) determined by three approved comparator assays using vaginal specimens collected by a qualified HCP in support of obtaining FDA clearance. and a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Waiver.

Sternal Wound Infection in Patients Undergone Sternal Fixation Using Locking Compression Plates...

Sternal FractureSternal Wound Infection1 more

Sternal Wound Infection (SWI) in open heart surgery is one of the most annoying and avoidable complications that one encounters during work. Investigators investigate the rates of sternal wound infection (SWI) in patients in whom were used locking compression plates (LCP) versus in patients in whom were used wires to fixate the sternum for variable causes. SWI increases the overall cost and burden in the medical service and increases the patients suffering and disability. investigators aim to provide our patients with the most suitable means for sternal fixation.

Brazilian HIV/Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Prevention for Adolescents With Mental Health...

HIVSexually Transmitted Infection1 more

Adolescents with mental health (MH) disorders (MHD) have higher rates of HIV/STI sexual risk behaviors than those in the general population. In Brazil, among youth seeking HIV testing, those testing positive had more MH problems than HIV-negative youth; HIV/STI sexual risk reduction is not regularly implemented within MH care for adolescents. Our NIMH-funded RCT in Rio de Janeiro (Rio; R01MH065163; PI: Wainberg) promises to provide such intervention for adults with MHD. A comparable evidence-based HIV/STI prevention intervention for adolescents is not available in Brazil; this application targets this need. Using quantitative and qualitative methods we will explore the contextual influences on sexual risk behavior of Brazilian youth ages 13-24 with MHD to inform intervention adaptation. The investigators will then pilot-test the family-based (parent-adolescent dyad) intervention HIV, STI and pregnancy prevention intervention with a sample of male and female youth age 13-24 years (n=144) with MHD who are in MH treatment in four community-based sites in preparation for the RCT.
