Safety and Immunogenicity Among Healthy Children Receiving Fluzone® Influenza Virus Vaccine (2012-2013...
InfluenzaThe aim of this clinical study is to demonstrate safety and immunogenicity of Fluzone vaccine. Objective: To describe the safety of the 2012-2013 formulation of Fluzone vaccine, administered in a 1- or 2-dose schedule, in accordance with Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations, in children 6 months to < 9 years of age. Observational Objectives: To describe the immunogenicity of the 2012-2013 formulation of Fluzone vaccine, administered in a 1- or 2-dose schedule in accordance with ACIP recommendations, in children 6 months to < 9 years of age. To submit remaining available sera from subjects to the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) for further analysis by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to support selection and recommendation of strains for subsequent years' influenza vaccines.
Study of Fluzone® Influenza Virus Vaccines 2012-2013 Formulation Among Adults.
InfluenzaThe aim of this study is to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of Fluzone vaccine (18 years to <65 years of age and ≥ 65 years of age), Fluzone Intradermal vaccine (18 years to <65 years of age), and Fluzone High-Dose vaccine (≥ 65 years of age). Primary Objective: To describe the safety of the 2012 - 2013 formulation of Fluzone and Fluzone Intradermal vaccines in adults 18 to < 65 years of age and the safety of the 2012 - 2013 formulation of Fluzone and Fluzone High-Dose vaccines in adults ≥ 65 years of age. Observational Objectives: To describe the immunogenicity of the 2012 - 2013 formulation of Fluzone and Fluzone Intradermal vaccines in adults 18 to < 65 years of age and the immunogenicity of the 2012 - 2013 formulation of Fluzone and Fluzone High-Dose vaccines in adults ≥ 65 years of age. To evaluate the compliance, in terms of immunogenicity, of each study vaccine (Fluzone, Fluzone Intradermal, and Fluzone High-Dose) in the applicable age group with the requirements of the Committee for Human Medicinal Products (CHMP) Note for Guidance (NfG) CPMP/BWP/214/96. To submit remaining available sera from subjects given Fluzone vaccine to the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) for further analysis by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to support selection and recommendation of strains for subsequent years' influenza vaccines.
H7N9 Mix and Match With MF59 in Healthy Adults
InfluenzaThis is a Phase II randomized, double-blinded, controlled study in up to 700 males and non-pregnant females, 19 to 64 years old, inclusive, designed to assess the safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity of a monovalent influenza A/H7N9 virus vaccine administered at different dosages (3.75, 7.5, or 15 mcg of HA/0.5 mL dose) given with and without MF59 adjuvant and without adjuvant (15 mcg of HA/0.5 mL dose and 45 mcg of HA/0.75 mL dose). Subjects will receive two doses via intramuscular injection, approximately 21 days apart. Safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity data will be collected at standard time points with safety follow-up to continue through one year post dose 2. The duration of the study for each subject will be approximately 13 months.
Safety and Immunogenicity of Trivalent Subunit Inactivated Flu Vaccine Administered to Healthy Children...
Seasonal InfluenzaThis study will evaluate the safety and immunogenicity in healthy children and adolescents after one or two IM dose(s) of trivalent subunit inactivated flu vaccine.
Post-Partum Immunization With Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine (LAIV) or Trivalent Influenza Vaccine...
InfluenzaThe purpose of this research study is to learn more about the safety of 2 licensed flu vaccines, nasal spray and flu vaccine shot, in mothers and their infants, when given to women who are breastfeeding and to compare the immune response (body's defense against foreign substances) of breastfeeding mothers, who receive intranasal flu vaccine, with breastfeeding mothers receiving the flu vaccine shot. Healthy women (240 volunteers, 28-120 days post delivery) who plan to breastfeed through 28 days post vaccination and who have not received influenza vaccine for the influenza season for which they are being enrolled, will be assigned by chance to 1 of the 2 vaccines in the following manner: flu vaccine nasal spray and a placebo (inactive substance) shot or a flu vaccine shot and a placebo nasal spray. Study procedures include: nasal swabs, blood samples, and completion of memory aids. Participants will be involved in this United States based study for about 6 months.
Evaluation of Seasonal Influenza Vaccine for 2010-2011 in Young Children
Seasonal InfluenzaThe seasonal influenza vaccination program for 2010-2011 will be the first to follow the H1N1 pandemic of 2009. Many children either had the H1N1 infection or the adjuvanted H1N1 vaccine. Both H1N1 infection and adjuvanted vaccine produced strong immune responses which could last for some time. The seasonal influenza vaccine for this fall will be a trivalent inactivated product (regular seasonal influenza vaccine)once again, without adjuvant. It will contain 3 strains of killed, split-apart viruses that might circulate this winter, including the H1N1 pandemic strain. It is theoretically possible that giving the H1N1-containing seasonal vaccine to people who still have some immunity to H1N1 virus could result in more frequent side-effects. However, there is no good evidence that pre-existing immunity to a strain in the vaccine does increase side-effects. In short, there could be nothing out of the ordinary this fall but it would be prudent to check this before public flu vaccination programs begin.
