Immunogenicity and Safety of Pandemic Influenza Vaccines in Adults Aged 18 - 49 Years Old

Influenza

This study will assess safety and immunogenicity of GSK Biologicals' H5N1 flu candidate vaccines GSK2590066A and GSK2340273A in healthy adults 18 - 49 years old.

Post-Partum Immunization With Live Attenuated Influenza Vaccine (LAIV) or Trivalent Influenza Vaccine...

Influenza

The purpose of this research study is to learn more about the safety of 2 licensed flu vaccines, nasal spray and flu vaccine shot, in mothers and their infants, when given to women who are breastfeeding and to compare the immune response (body's defense against foreign substances) of breastfeeding mothers, who receive intranasal flu vaccine, with breastfeeding mothers receiving the flu vaccine shot. Healthy women (240 volunteers, 28-120 days post delivery) who plan to breastfeed through 28 days post vaccination and who have not received influenza vaccine for the influenza season for which they are being enrolled, will be assigned by chance to 1 of the 2 vaccines in the following manner: flu vaccine nasal spray and a placebo (inactive substance) shot or a flu vaccine shot and a placebo nasal spray. Study procedures include: nasal swabs, blood samples, and completion of memory aids. Participants will be involved in this United States based study for about 6 months.

Evaluation of Seasonal Influenza Vaccine for 2010-2011 in Young Children

Seasonal Influenza

The seasonal influenza vaccination program for 2010-2011 will be the first to follow the H1N1 pandemic of 2009. Many children either had the H1N1 infection or the adjuvanted H1N1 vaccine. Both H1N1 infection and adjuvanted vaccine produced strong immune responses which could last for some time. The seasonal influenza vaccine for this fall will be a trivalent inactivated product (regular seasonal influenza vaccine)once again, without adjuvant. It will contain 3 strains of killed, split-apart viruses that might circulate this winter, including the H1N1 pandemic strain. It is theoretically possible that giving the H1N1-containing seasonal vaccine to people who still have some immunity to H1N1 virus could result in more frequent side-effects. However, there is no good evidence that pre-existing immunity to a strain in the vaccine does increase side-effects. In short, there could be nothing out of the ordinary this fall but it would be prudent to check this before public flu vaccination programs begin.

Safety, Reactogenicity and Immunogenicity of Flublok Quadrivalent (Recombinant Influenza Vaccine,Seasonal...

Influenza

Flublok was studied previously in children 6 -59 months of age and demonstrated less than satisfactory immunogenicity results, especially in the 6-36 month age group. Thus, the initial introduction of Flublok Quadrivalent Formulation (RIV4) into the pediatric population will evaluate immunogenicity and safety older children and adolescents, aged 6-17. This clinical trial is designed to demonstrate safety and non-inferior immunogenicity of Flublok-Q in pediatric subjects 6-17 years of age as compared to IIV4. Positive results in this study may support further studies in younger children.

Study of a Flu Vaccine in Children

Influenza

This study tests the safety and effectiveness of a flu vaccine in school children. School children are usually the first members of a community to come down with the flu, and they often give the flu to their younger siblings, parents, and grandparents. It is hoped that giving school children a flu vaccine can help prevent the spread of the flu to other members of the community.

Safety and Immunogenicity of H1N1 Vaccines in Children Aged 6 Months to Less Than 9 Years of Age...

Influenza

The purpose of this study is to characterize the safety and immune response of the H1N1 (swine) flu vaccines GSK2340274A and GSK2340273A in children 6 months to less than 9 years of age. This Protocol Posting has been updated following the Protocol amendment 1 & 2, September and October 2009. The sections impacted are study design, objectives and analysis methods.

Study to Evaluate Immunological Equivalence Between Two Investigational Influenza Vaccines in Adults...

Influenza

The primary purpose of the study is to assess the equivalence of the immune response elicited by two GSK Biologicals' adjuvanted influenza investigational vaccines (GSK2340272A and GSK2340274A) in adults aged 18 to 60 years. The second purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety and reactogenicity of these two vaccines.

Influenza

The purpose of this study is to characterize the safety, immunogenicity, and relative efficacy of the H1N1 (swine) flu vaccines GSK2340273A and GSK2340274A in adults 18 years of age or older.
