Epidemiology of Roller Hockey Related Injuries.
Sports InjuryRoller Hockey is a sport played on a 40*20 metres rink characterized by combined periods of high intensity and short breaks, there´s a lack of epidemiological studies in this field. In line with the well-established model of sports injury prevention research proffered by van Mechelen, the first stage in this process is establishing the extent of the problem i.e. injury incidence, severity and burden. Through an online survey filled by semiprofessional athletes, it is posible to obtain all this important information. This way, it will be possible to fulfill a gap in the literature and take action in the near future in order to reduce the prevalence of injuries in this sport.

Independent variables: A pre-season visit consisted in clinical and isokinetic shoulder strength testing. Isokinetic internal and external rotator shoulder muscles strength was tested at 60, 120 and 240°/s. Conventional and functional (eccentric-to-concentric) ratios (FR) were calculated. SSI collection was performed by an experienced sport physician.

Postoperative Pressure Injury in Patients Undergoing Prone Spinal Surgery
Pressure InjuryPatients undergoing surgery under general anesthesia are susceptible to pressure-induced soft tissue damage because there is no change in posture over an extended period of time. In particular, when the patient is in a prone position, unlike the supine position, the bony protruding portion of the front side must support the weight, which is more vulnerable to pressure injury. Previous studies have shown that the incidence of pressure injury during surgery varied from 5% to 66% and was more likely to occur in patients with long operating times, prone position, obesity, and poor skin condition. These pressure injuries increase postoperative complications, length of stay, and medical costs. Therefore, the investigators analyze the incidence of pressure injury in prone position and re-examine the risk factors of pressure injury.
Novel MRI for Diagnosing Traumatic Brachial Plexus Injuries
Brain InjuriesThe aims are: Investigate new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans for diagnosing severe nerve injury in the arm. Understand how the brain and spinal cord respond to severe nerve injury using MRI. The nerves which control movement and feeling in the arm can be severely damaged in eg. motorbike crashes, sporting or work-related injuries. Every year 500 adults sustain life-changing major nerve injuries, causing 1) disability needing constant care, 2) life-long pain and 3) mental illness. In England, major nerve injuries cost £250million every year in hospital treatments, unemployment and social care. Injured nerves can be repaired with surgery. To decide if nerves need repairing, exploratory surgery is needed. Instead, we have developed a new MRI scan which could diagnose nerve injuries, meaning that exploratory surgery could be avoided, nerve injuries could be diagnosed sooner and reconstructive surgery performed sooner. Some people with nerve injuries develop lifelong pain - if we could understand how the brain adapts, we could learn how to prevent nerve pain. Also, some people don't recover movement in their hand - if we could understand how the brain reorganises nerves controlling movement, we could predict who would benefit from surgery.

Spinal Cord InjuriesHBSCI02: This protocol is part of an FDA Individual Patient Non-emergency Expanded Access Request submitted on behalf of a 38-year-old father and husband who on August 4, 2017 at about 4:30pm, slipped off a boat head-first while in the Florida Keys for a family wedding, and was immediately unable to move his legs. He discharged to Texas via air ambulance for physical rehabilitation on August 23, 2017 with a diagnosis of ASIA B (American Spinal Injury Association) C-5 SCI (spinal cord injury). HBSCI04: This Individual Patient Expanded Access IND has been created per the request of a 75-year-old man who has been diagnosed with Spinal Cord Injury. The patient requested this Expanded Access IND with the purpose of possible restoration of nerve transmission and restoring sensation in his upper and lower body using intravenous autologous adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells. HBSCI05: This Individual Patient Expanded Access IND has been created per the request of a 26-year-old man who has been diagnosed with Spinal Cord Injury. The patient is a 26-year-old male who suffered an unstable C-6 compressive fracture, crushing the vertebral body and retropulsion of a large bone fragment into the vertebral canal, stenosing 75% of spinal canal in a diving accident on 12/4/2021 in Belize City, Belize. The injury classification is C-6 Asia A injury. The injury left him with flaccid paralysis below the level of C-7 dermatome.

Injury prevention programs seek to improve the control of the neuromuscular recruitment, dynamic valgus and lumbopelvic stabilization. Recently Cibulka and Bennett have proposed a new prevention theory based on the strengthening of the external abductor and hip rotator muscles. The objective of this study is to design and carry out a physiotherapy program based on the prevention of modifiable risks factors. Design: Controlled clinical trial Methodology: 2 groups were formed, the first or experimental integrated by the female players from football team called CD Oliver (CDO), and control, integrated by the female players of the first team SD Huesca (SDH). The investigators will carried out an initial and final evaluation in which they will be collected data on variables of injury incidence, muscle length and torque. A physiotherapy program will be implemented that will consider three areas of weekly action during training, preventive force sessions, compensatory force sessions and physiotherapy sessions.
