Imaging Biomarkers of Delayed Sequelae in Trauma Brain Injury
Traumatic Brain InjuryParkinson's DiseaseThe purpose of this study is to learn if a new brain imaging technology called DaTscan can detect subtle changes in the brain that are similar to those seen in early Parkinson's disease (PD). The results of this study may provide more information about a possible association between mild to moderate traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and PD. The objectives of this study are to define and describe a group of approximately 7,122 mTBI subjects and 7,122 subjects without mTBI (mTBI-) seen in the Emergency Rooms of NorthShore University HealthSystem during the years 2006-2011, and to select from willing eligible subjects a random sample of 100 mTBI subjects and 100 mTBI- subjects (of the same age and gender) to undergo written informed consent, neurological examinations, blood drawing for DNA extraction and storage, and DaTscan brain imaging. The investigators will compare the findings from persons who experienced mTBI (cases) to persons without a history of brain injury (mTBI- or "controls").

CrossFit's Injuries Study in Grand Nancy Clubs During 2018-2019
CrossFit InjuriesCrossFit is a recent sport that has been democratized since the beginning of the 2000's in France. The 3 major studies of CrossFit injuries were conducted in the United States in 2014, Brazil in 2016 and the United States in 2017. They show a discrepancy in terms of injuries average, from 19.4% to 31% in relation to an upsurge in the number of CrossFit practitioners, the specific training or not of the coaches framing this activity, the practice or not in competition. The main locations of these wounds are highlighted at the shoulders, lumbar region and knees. In France, to date, no epidemiological studies have been conducted on this subject. Hypothesis: High incidence of injuries related to a lack of framing, or bad practice and ignorance of CrossFit practitioners. Objectives : Estimate the injuries incident due to the CrossFit practice over a 8-month period in an adult population who practice in clubs . Research, among the anthropometric, sociodemographic, environmental, and the nature and frequency of practice and training sessions, those which are associated with the occurrence of injury in this cohort.
Concussion in Motor Vehicle Accidents: The Concussion Identification Index
Motor Vehicle AccidentsTBI (Traumatic Brain Injury)12 moreThe primary goal of this study is to provide clinicians with a brief, patient self-administer instrument yielding a single composite score that reliably correlates with objective findings on standardized neurocognitive assessment for concussion.
Imaging Biomarkers of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: a Longitudinal Cohort Study
Mild Traumatic Brain InjuryPosttraumatic Stress Disorder2 moreThis longitudinal cohort study aims to detect the topographical nature of the white matter microstructure and resting state functional connectivity patterns across the whole brain in the evolution of pathology as a function of time following mild TBI. All consecutively patients with the non-contrast head CT because of acute head trauma from the local emergency department (ED) formed the initial population of this study. Age, sex, education-level matched healthy controls will also be enrolled. The initial scan will performed within 7 days post-injury. Clinical assessment was performed within 24 hours of MR imaging and included a broad neuropsychological and symptom assessments. Follow-up examination will conduct at 1 month, 3 month, 6-12 months.
Sit-to-stand in Spinal Cord Injury Patient
InjuriesSpinal CordWere there differences in functional ability between ambulatory individuals with SCI who passed and failed the independent sit-to-stand (iSTS) task? Did the ability of iSTS relate to ability of walking as determined using a type of AAD used? What were factors associated with the ability of iSTS?
Preoperative Prediction of Acute Kidney Injury After Cardiac Surgery
Acute Kidney InjuryAlthough acute kidney injury (AKI) frequently complicates cardiac surgery, methods to determine AKI risk are lacking. Renal functional reserve (RFR), the capacity of the intact nephron mass to increase glomerular filtration rate (GFR), represents maximal filtration capacity. We hypothesized that preoperative RFR would predict postoperative AKI.
MicroRNAs in Acute Kidney Injury
Kidney Injury in Cardiac Surgery - Expression of microRNAsProfiling of microRNAs and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Analysis: Prediction of acute kidney injury by plasma expression profile of microRNAs?
The Effect of Automated Electronic Alert for Acute Kidney Injury on the Outcomes of Hospitalized...
Acute Kidney InjuryOutcomes1 moreAcute kidney injury (AKI) is a common disease, but diagnosis is usually delayed or missed in hospitalized patients. The automated electronic alert for AKI may help to improve the outcomes of these patients through identifying all cases of AKI early. Therefore, the investigators conduct a randomly controlled study to test whether automated electronic alert for AKI could improve the outcomes of hospitalized patients.
