Exercise and Mediterranean Diet on Body Composition, Disease Activity and Inflammatory Markers in...

ArthritisRheumatoid6 more

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease with metabolic alterations due mainly by the liberation of catabolic cytokines leading to changes in body composition as rheumatoid cachexia. Dynamic exercise (DE) has demonstrated to improve muscular, strength and joint function as well as inflammatory process. Also, a diet focused on the consumption of certain fatty acids like the Mediterranean is recommended to reduce inflammation. The aim of this study is to assess the effect of a dynamic exercise program in combination with a Mediterranean diet in strength, joint mobility and disease activity in women with RA.

Effects of Dietary Fatty Acids on Octadecanoid Production and Biological Actions in Obesity-induced...

ObesityInflammation

This is a single site, double-blind, randomized, crossover study designed to compare the effects of dietary supplementation with flax oil rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and fish oil rich in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) on oxylipin profiles over time (0 to 4 weeks) and among obese females varying in their inflammatory state. Additional assessments will include plasma fatty acid composition, adipokines, markers of adipocyte dysfunction and inflammation; immune cell/monocyte fatty acid composition, and functional properties including their metabolism and oxylipin production; and vascular function.

Specialized Food Plan Based on Individual Physiological Comprehensive Body Assessments Accompanied...

Mild Cognitive ImpairmentAlzheimer Disease

Diet plays a large role in inflammation, oxidative stress and cognition; however, every person's body type, resting metabolic rate, BMI, and inflammation levels vary. Through performing physiological and comprehensive cellular testing through bio-impedance, allows this study to create personalized diet plans for each subject's body type. Cellular repair therapy has also been known to improve cellular health and inflammation. Through decreasing inflammation and improving oxidative stress, cognition in those with MCI and AD could improve.

Effect of Palmitoleic Acid on C-reactive Protein

Chronic InflammationOverweight

This clinical trial will test the effects of an n-7 monounsaturated fatty acid known as palmitoleic acid (POA) on a chronic inflammation marker in overweight subjects. The study will enroll male and female subjects from healthy populations with high levels of the inflammatory marker c-reactive protein (CRP). Investigators will then determine over time if palmitoleic acid supplementation can lower circulating levels of c-reactive protein. Investigators will administer palmitoleic acid at two doses in addition to a placebo and conduct a double-blind parallel arm study. Circulating CRP will be the primary endpoint and secondary endpoints are Interleukin 6 (IL-6), Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) alpha, ghrelin, peptide tyrosine tyrosine (peptide YY), cardio lipid markers, glucose, insulin, leptin, adiponectin, and red blood cell (RBC) and serum fatty acids.

Outcome of Steroid Therapy for Myocardial Inflammation in Scleroderma

Myocardial Inflammation

Primary myocardial involvement is common in scleroderma, effected to pericardium, vascular, conducting defect and especially myocardium. Cardiac MRI is widely used for assessment of cardiac involvement in scleroderma, both structural and functional pathology. Cardiac MRI has a diagnostic accuracy of 85% for the detection of myocardial inflammation. Nowadays, the treatment of myocardial inflammation in scleroderma is uncertain. The investigator's study aims to define the cardiac outcome after moderate dose steroid therapy in the patients who have myocardial inflammation detection by cardiac MRI.

Effect of Age and Fitness on Vascular Function and Oxidative Stress During Acute Inflammation

AgingInflammation

This study focuses on whether high cardiorespiratory fitness in older adults has a protective effect on the vascular response to acute inflammation in comparison to low-fit older and young adults.

Pivotal Study to Assess the Efficacy, Safety and Tolerability of Dupilumab in Patients With Moderate-to-severe...

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Primary Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of dupilumab administered every 2 weeks in patients with moderate-or severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) as measured by Annualized rate of acute moderate and severe COPD exacerbation (AECOPD) Secondary Objectives: To evaluate the effect of dupilumab administered every 2 weeks on Pre-bronchodilator forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) over 12 weeks compared to placebo Health related quality of life, assessed by the change from baseline to Week 52 in the St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) Pre-bronchodilator FEV1 over 52 weeks compared to placebo Lung function assessments Moderate and severe COPD exacerbations To evaluate safety and tolerability To evaluate dupilumab systemic exposure and incidence of anti-drug antibodies (ADA)
