Inflammation in Women With Urgency Urinary Incontinence Treated With Anticholinergics
Urinary IncontinenceUrgency UrinaryUrinary incontinence (UI) is a very common condition affecting women of all ages. The objective of this pilot study is to better understand the urinary microbiome and associated inflammatory markers in blood and urine in women with urgency UI. The study will assess how inflammation may affect response to standard of care anticholinergic medication treatment for urgency urinary incontinence.

Effects of Green Propolis Extract (EPP-AF) on Inflammation in Hemodialysis Patients.
Chronic Kidney Disease Requiring Chronic DialysisEnd-stage chronic kidney disease is associated with the condition of chronic inflammation. Patients on hemodialysis are known to be predisposed to several factors that predispose to inflammation: dialysis membranes, central venous catheters, oxidative stress, fluid overload, sodium overload, uraemic toxins. Propolis, a natural resin produced by bees from plant materials, has anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and anti-oxidant properties. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of Brazilian green propolis extract on inflammation in hemodialysis patients.

Oritavancin Versus IV Vancomycin for the Treatment of Participants With Acute Bacterial Skin and...
Wound InfectionAbscess2 moreThe purpose of this Phase 3 trial was to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of oritavancin in acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSIs), including those caused by methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and to evaluate the potential economic benefit of oritavancin administered as a single 1200-milligram (mg) intravenous (IV) dose.

PainInflammation1 moreThis is an efficacy study of Bromfenac Ophthalmic Solution in cataract surgery.

Safety and Tolerability of NNC0141-0000-0100 in Subjects With Rheumatoid Arthritis
InflammationRheumatoid ArthritisThis trial is conducted in Europe. The aim of this dose-escalating trial is to assess the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics (the rate at which the body eliminates the trial drug) and pharmacodynamics (the effect of the investigated drug on the body) of single and repeated doses of NNC141-0100 in subjects with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Effects on NF-κB Activity: High Dose Simvastatin Versus Combination Therapy With Ezetimibe
Type 2 DiabetesInflammationLowering LDL cholesterol by statins has been proven to be associated with reduction of proinflammatory regulators e.g. activation of the transcription factor NF-ĸB. Up to now the effects of newer cholesterol lowering agents such as ezetemibe with respect to their anti-inflammatory potential are less intensively studied. Therefore the investigators analyzed whether equipotent LDL-lowering therapy with simvastatin alone and in combination with ezetimibe have comparable effects on NF-ĸB-activation in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of patients with type 2 diabetes.

Intravitreal Ketorolac for Chronic Uveitis: A Investigational Safety Study
InflammationIntraocular delivery of ketorolac will be an effective means to treat inflammation and macular edema and prevent structural complications and vision loss in patients with uveitis who are unable to tolerate corticosteroids due to their side effects.

Exploring the Role of Adipocyte Fatty Acid Binding Protein in the Association of Obstructive Sleep...
Obstructive Sleep ApneaInsulin Resistance2 moreAdipocyte fatty acid binding protein (A-FABP) is a member of the FABP super family, is abundant in adipocytes and macrophages. Regulatory functions of A-FABP in lipid and glucose metabolism have been described, and it is suggested to play an important role in the pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome. We hypothesize that obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) may upregulate A-FABP production and thus causally contribute to metabolic dysfunction. Our group has recently demonstrated that A-FABP, expressed and secreted from adipocytes, is present in the blood stream .The levels of A-FABP correlated with various metabolic variates in the metabolic syndrome. Furthermore, we have obtained novel data in men with a range of sleep disordered breathing showed that the duration of oxygen desaturation correlated with circulating levels of A-FABP, independent of age and waist/body mass index. The current proposal aims to pursue this finding and further explore the role of A-FABP in the association of OSA and metabolic dysfunction.

Clinical Efficacy of the Drug Ster® Compared With Predfort® in Control of Postoperative Inflammation...
InflammationCataract SurgeryIs the primary objective of this investigation to compare the clinical efficacy of the drug test - Ster ® (prednisolone 1% ophthalmic suspension - Union Chemicals) in the comparator - Fort ® Pred (prednisolone 1% ophthalmic suspension - Allergan) in the control of postoperative inflammation in cataract surgery by phacoemulsification through periodic measurement of efficiency scores (number of cells in the anterior chamber, the presence of fibrin in the anterior chamber, conjunctival hyperemia, corneal edema and Descemet folds).
