Intraabdominal InfectionsThe primary focus of the study is the evaluation of the safety of treatment with moxifloxacin in a pediatric population 3 months to <18 years old. Approximately 450 pediatric subjects with a complicated intra-abdominal infection will be enrolled in the study and treated with either moxifloxacin intravenously and orally if switched to oral therapy or ertapenem (intravenously) and, if switched to oral therapy, amoxicillin/clavulanate.

Subjects with clinical signs and symptoms of cIAI will be included for enrollment. Subjects will be stratified at randomization for Acute Physiologic and Chronic Health Evaluation scale (APACHE II) score < 10 and > 10. Subjects will be followed for efficacy through the test-of-cure assessment. Safety evaluations will occur through the treatment and post-treatment periods and continue through resolution or stability of the adverse event(s).
