Efficacy and Safety of WPQW Granule for Overlap of NERD and IBS-D

Non-erosive Reflux DiseaseDiarrhea-Predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Non-erosive reflux disease(NERD)and Diarrhea-Predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome(IBS-D)are both the common refractory gastrointestinal diseases. Patients, who suffered from overlapping symptoms of NERD and IBS-D, present more serious symptom manifestation, anxiety, and worse life quality than those with solely disease. There is lack of effective treatment for overlapping gastrointestinal symptoms. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation and treatment has the advantages of overall regulation and individualized treatment, but lack of high-level evidence. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of WPQW granule for the treatment of NERD overlapping IBS-D.

Lactobacillus-containing Cultured Milk Drink Alleviates Depression Score Among Adults With Irritable...

Irritable Bowel Syndrome With Subthreshold Depression

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is frequently associated with any form of psychiatric comorbidities including subthreshold or subclinical depression. Modification of gut ecology with probiotics has implicitly improved IBS and depressive symptoms. However, the efficacy of probiotics on IBS with existing subthreshold depression remain elusive. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of lactobacillus-containing cultured milk drink on depression scores in adults diagnosed with IBS.

Functional ConstipationIrritable Bowel Syndrome With Constipation

The objective of LIN-MD-64 is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of 12 weeks of linaclotide therapy (72 μg daily) in comparison with placebo in pediatric participants, 6 to 17 years of age, who fulfill modified Rome III Criteria for Child/Adolescent Functional Constipation (FC). The objective of LIN-MD-64 is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of 12 weeks of linaclotide therapy (145 μg or 290 μg daily) in pediatric participants, 7 to 17 years of age, who fulfill the Rome III criteria for child/adolescent Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and modified Rome III criteria for child/adolescent Functional Constipation (FC).

Brain-Gut-Microbiota Interaction in IBS

Irritable Bowel SyndromeFunctional Gastrointestinal Disorders

Are you what you eat? How can dietary components influence microbial composition of the gut and function of the peripheral and central nervous system? The gut and brain is linked through complex mechanisms of sensorimotor functions of the immune system, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal-axis, the enteric nervous system and microbiota. In this project, a multitude of factors contributing to the bidirectional neurobiological communication along the brain-but-axis will be investigated. No disease of the brain-gut axis has been elucidated, therefore our investigations involves approaching a large span of components and processes involved in the axis. This study is carried out as a case-report study (baseline, IBS n=100, healthy controls n=40) followed by a dietary intervention (IBS-D n=60). Through multivariate analyses, the investigators will identify patterns of factors contributing to patient symptomatology and pathology, followed by big data analysis leading to stratification of sub-classification of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
