Case Selection and Treatment Protocol for Immediate Dental Implants in the Esthetic Zone

JawEdentulous2 more

In this study a tooth that needs to be extracted will be replaced by an implant (artificial root) placed at the same appointment as the extraction. The investigators want to observe how the gums change shape with healing in two different scenarios: If the soft tissue around your tooth is thin, following extraction and implant placement an extra soft tissue graft (taken from your palate) in the area in order to increase the thickness of your gums after healing. If the soft tissue around your tooth is thick, the implant will be placed without a soft tissue graft. Previous studies have shown that both methods work and can give good results. In fact the two methods are used routinely but they have never been compared objectively to one another in the same research study. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate if there is any difference in terms of esthetic outcomes between these two treatment modalities after a crown has been placed on the implant.

Study Evaluating ASTRA TECH Implant System, OsseoSpeed™ Implants in the Upper Jaw in Women With...

Postmenopausal OsteoporosisOsteopenia3 more

The overall objective of the study is to compare treatment with the ASTRA TECH Implant System, OsseoSpeed™ implant in the maxilla of postmenopausal women with and without systemic osteoporosis. The hypothesis is that there will be no difference in marginal bone level alterations between the two groups.

Straumann Bone Ceramic Versus BioOss in Sinus Elevation

JawEdentulous2 more

Straumann Bone Ceramic (SBC) and BioOss will be used as bone grafting materials when there is a need for bone augmentation in the posterior upper jaw. 9 months later the bone formation is evaluated. The patients are followed for 3 years. The study hypothesis is that the SBC is not worse than BioOss.

JawEdentulous1 more

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical performance of implants placed in individuals who are about to loose one or more of their upper teeth. The main objective is to study how the surrounding bone tissue reacts to two different shapes of implants. Clinical performance, in wider terms, means esthetics and long lasting function. Half of the patients will receive a cylindrically shaped implant and the other half will receive a conical-cylindrical implant. The implants will be placed and after a healing period of 16 weeks the gum will be re-opened and the bone tissue response clinically evaluated. Permanent artificial tooth/teeth will be attached six weeks after that.

Immediate Loading of Implants in the Partially or Completely Edentulous Jaw

JawEdentulous3 more

The investigators aim to evaluate the biological and mechanical short- and long-term outcome of IL in partially or completely edentulous patients. Moreover, the investigators aim to detect potential influencing risk factors predicting undesirable prosthetic outcome.

Study to Compare Marginal Bone Loss Around Implants From Two Dental Implant Systems.

JawEdentulous1 more

The purpose of this study is to compare marginal bone level changes between ASTRA TECH Implant System; Fixture ST and Biomet 3i; Osseotite® Implants. Subjects with partial edentulism in the posterior maxilla and/or mandible will be included and a one-stage surgical protocol will be used. Implants will be loaded within 15 weeks from installation. The subjects will be followed for 3 years.

JawEdentulous1 more

The purpose of this study is to evaluate survival for ASTRA TECH Implant System, OsseoSpeed™ implants following immediate loading in extraction sockets versus immediate loading in healed ridges. Patients in need of single standing implants replacing teeth in the maxilla within zone 15-25 will be included and followed for 5 years. Primary objective is implant survival rate at 12 months.

JawEdentulous1 more

The purpose of the study is to evaluate Astra Tech Dental Implant System, Fixture Osseospeed™, in patients with tooth loss in the posterior maxilla in an early loading protocol. Primary objectives are implant stability, marginal bone adaptation and survival rate.

Evaluation of B+ Surface on Early Loading

JawEdentulous1 more

The trial is designed as a consecutive enrollment prospective one-center study. A minimum of 30 patients will be included in the study. At implant installation, the implant will be randomized to one of the groups (Control: conventional loading, 8 weeks; Test: early loading, 4 weeks). Samples of peri-implant crevicular fluid (PICF) and intrasulcular plaque will be collected at -14, 0 (Baseline: prosthesis delivery), 7 days and 1, 3, 6, 12 months. Prosthesis will be fabricated and delivered as usual, i.e., approximately two weeks after the impressions are taken.

Esthetic, Clinical and Radiographic Outcomes of Immediately Placed Implants (Type 1) and Early Placed...

JawEdentulous2 more

The investigators are asking subjects to take part in a research study of soft tissue (gums) and bone (jawbone) healing around dental implants following tooth extraction. The investigators want to compare how the gums and the bone changes shape with healing in two different scenarios: When the implant is placed at the same time the tooth is extracted. When the tooth is extracted and then left to heal for a period of 4 to 8 weeks before the implant is placed. Previous studies have shown that both methods work and can give good results. In fact the two methods are used routinely as part of standard care but it is not known if the two procedures are equally good since they have never been compared in one same research study.
