PET Imaging of Hemophilic Arthropathy

HemophiliaArthropathy1 more

Repeated hemarthroses in patients with hemophilia may lead to hemophilic arthropathy with marked inflammation and synovial hypertrophy. Power Doppler ultrasonography is a useful tool in hemophilic arthropathy for assessment of disease activity and for monitoring response to treatment. Imaging inflammation with glucose analogue fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (18F-FDG PET) is based on that infiltrated granulocytes and tissue macrophages use glucose as an energy source. Metabolism and 18F-FDG uptake increase when inflammation occurring. The purpose of this study is to investigate the associations between 18F-FDG PET/CT and Power Doppler assessment in patients with hemophilic arthropathy.

Intraosseous Vancomycin in Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty - Designing a Protocol

Prosthetic Joint InfectionVancomycin1 more

The objective of this study is to evaluate a novel vancomycin intraosseous administration protocol vs a standard IV vancomycin administration protocol for primary total hip arthroplasty patients.

Temporary Hydrostatic Splint Therapy and Its Effects on Occlusal Forces

Temporomandibular Joint Disorders

The goal of this non-randomized controlled trial is to analyze and compare occlusal force distribution patterns using T-Scan III before and after hydrostatic splint therapy on both healthy subjects and subjects with temporomandibular disorders. The main questions it aims to answer are: Do occlusal forces for individual teeth differ before and after hydrostatic splint therapy? Does the percentage distribution of forces across different sectors differ before and after hydrostatic splint therapy? Participants will: Perform occlusal analysis using the T-Scan III device; Use a hydrostatic splint for 30 minutes; Perform a second occlusal analysis after using the hydrostatic splint. Researchers will compare healthy subjects and subjects with temporomandibular disorders to see if hydrostatic splint therapy makes a difference in the distribution patterns of occlusal forces.

The Vision System for Mandibular Trajectory Assessment in Women With Mild Temporomandibular Joint...

Mandibular Deviation

Recording mandibular movements plays an important role in stomatognathic system diagnosis and has been the subject of numerous research projects. This study presents theoretical assumptions and a practical solution in the form of a novel method of mandibular motion assessment.

Quantitative Evaluation of Osteopathic Treatment in Temporomandibular Joint Disorders Using Magnetic...

Temporomandibular DisordersArticular Disc Disorder (Reducing or Non-Reducing)1 more

The aim of this study is to assess the impact of osteopathic manual treatment in patients with an anterior disc displacement over sleep and health quality, pain scores and the movement of the condyle and disc of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) quantitatively.

IPACK Block After Total Knee Arthroplasty

Knee ArthropathyPostoperative Pain

Adductor canal block (ACB) is a peripheral nerve blockade technique that provides good pain control in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) which however does not relieve posterior knee pain. The recent technique of an ultrasound-guided local anesthetic infiltration of the interspace between popliteal artery and the capsule of posterior knee (IPACK) has shown promising results in providing significant posterior knee analgesia without affecting the motor nerves. The hypothesis was that the combination of ACB + IPACK will provide better pain relief and improve knee function in the immediate postoperative period compared to ACB alone.

Effects of Masseter Manual Therapy on Temporomandibular Dysfunction

Temporomandibular JointTemporomandibular Joint Dysfunction Syndrome1 more

Muscles and myofascial dysfunction are more often the mechanism and source of pain in oral fascial disorders (OFD) than the TMJ. Masticatory muscles in patients with TMJ alterations are more hypertonic, less efficient and more prone to fatigue compared to age and sex matched controls. It is our opinion that Active Release Technique can be a reliable assessment and treatment tool in the resolution in cervical-cranio mandibular disorders. Our goal is to improve masticatory function through treatment of trigger points in the masseter.

Diagnostic Value of 18F-Fluoride-PET/MRI in the Management of Suspected Facet Joint Arthropathy...

Arthropathy of Lumbar FacetPain1 more

Prior to the injection, the facet joints have to be defined according to standard radiological techniques (e.g. MRI and physical correlation). Patients are then sent to 18F-Fluoride-PET/MRI imaging, in order to localize facet joints with increased uptake. Facet joints to be injected are again defined according to the location(s) of highest uptake as demonstrated by 18F-Fluoride-PET/MRI. The defined injection sites before and after PET/MRI are compared. In equal defined injection sites, patients are sent for infiltration as scheduled, otherwise patients are randomized into two groups. One group will undergo facet injection(s) according to the 18F-Fluoride-PET/MRI result, with standard injections performed under CT-guidance by the radiology department of the study site. The control group will undergo facet injections blinded to the 18F-Fluoride-PET/MRI results, but based on current standard clinical practise (MRI and clinical correlation). The patients are asked to complete a validated pain and function questionnaire immediately before the facet joint injection, at 15 minutes, 1 day, 1 week and 1 month after the injection, as performed routinely in our institution. The purpose of this study is to prospectively evaluate the value of 18F-Fluoride-PET/MRI imaging in patients with low back pain with evidence of painful facet joint arthropathy, which would potentially benefit from facet joint injections.

Large Head X3 Study

Degenerative Joint Disease

The purpose of this study is to explore the benefit of X3 polyethlene inserts with larger diameter heads used in the Japanese population. Range of Motion (ROM) and lift-off distance for both 28mm, 32mm and 36mm in patients will be examined intraoperatively by using the Stryker computerized tomography (CT) based Navigation system. Another aspect of this study is to observe wear resistance performance of X3 over historical liner existing highly crosslinked polyethylene.

Comparison of Two Anatomic Landmarks With Ultrasonography in Spinal Anesthesia

Arthropathy of Knee

The most used anatomical landmark for application of spinal anesthesia is Tuffier's line. Other alternative landmark is tenth rib. However there is no trial that compare these landmarks based on using ultrasonography.
