Comparison of Evaporimetry With the Established Methods of Tear Film Measurement

Dry Eye Syndromes

Purpose: To establish whether there is a correlation between dry eye symptoms, age and gender, a difference in symptom intensity in different times of the day, which test (Schirmer or TBUT) better correlates with dry eye symptoms, whether it is possible to reliably use cheap, easy to use hygrometer in everyday clinical setting, and finally whether there is statistically significant correlation between applied tests (TBUT, Schirmer and evaporimetry). Methods: Subjects: 45 in group without dry eye related symptoms, and 45 in group with symptoms. Examination included structured case history (questionnaire), slit lamp examination with fluorescein staining, periocular evaporimetry, TBUT test and Schirmer test.

Burden of Illness and Treatment Assessment of Patients With Dry Eye Disease: A Cross-Sectional Survey...

Dry Eye Disease

This study employed secondary database analysis of the Adelphi Dry Eye Disease (DED) Disease Specific Programme™ (DSP™), a templatized cross-sectional survey with retrospective data collection that is administered by Adelphi to a convenience sample of patients diagnosed with DED, and their consulting physicians in the United States. In addition to the survey data, the DED DSP also included recorded medical history data as reported by physicians (optometrists, ophthalmologists or refractive surgeons).

Influencing Factors on Dry Eye Syndrome and Ocular Surface Disease

Dry Eye SyndromeOcular Surface Disease

Dry eye syndrome and ocular surface disease are very important ophthalmologic diseases. It is known that various inducers are involved. However, it is still necessary to study how influencing factors are related to dry eye syndrome and ocular surface disease and how treatment for dry eye syndrome and ocular surface disease is helpful.

Assessment of Inflammatory and Functional Changes in the Ocular Surface Associated With Dry Eye...

Sjogren's SyndromeDry Eye

This project will examine the similarities and differences of the ocular surface and tear film in patients with Sjogren's syndrome related to dry eye, severe dry eye and those who do not have dry eye. This knowledge will help clinicians understand the processes that create these dry eye conditions and will strengthen the treatment and management strategies that will be used. The subjects will participate in a series of dry eye tests that they have already experienced in clinic, along with the gathering of tear samples and surface cells. These tissues will then be analyzed at a distant site.

Three Dimension Tomography of Eye Structures by White Light Imaging Device

Healthy SubjectsModerate to Severe Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (KCS)1 more

The purpose of this study is to investigate the ability of an imaging device, developed by AdOM Advanced Optical Technologies Ltd. ("AdOM"). The device allows a three-dimensional imaging of the ocular tissues, specifically the tear film layers and the retinal layers. The device is based on the use of white light. In this initial study, the device will be used to assess the tear film which coats the corneal surface in healthy subjects as well as in moderate-to-severe Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (KCS) or Dry Eye Syndrome (DES). The ability of the device to assess the retinal layers will be evaluated in the second phase of the study.

Corneal Sensation and Incidence of Dry Eye Post Refractive Cataract Extraction With FemtoSecond...

CataractDry Eye

The study objective is to assess changes in corneal sensation and dry eye signs and symptoms following cataract extraction/femtosecond arcuate relaxing incisions. Our clinical hypothesis is to determine if a combination of cataract surgery and femtosecond arcuate relaxing incisions lead to a reduction in corneal sensation and the onset or worsening of dry eye signs and symptoms.

Dry Eye Management With 3% Diquafosol Before and After Cataract Surgery

Dry Eye

The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of Diquafosol 3% in the management of dry eyes before and after cataract surgery. Patients with pre-existing dry eyes and planned for cataract surgery will be started on Diquafosol eyedrops prior to surgery and treatment will be continued after cataract surgery. Eligible patients will undergo evaluation of dry eye at baseline and subsequently started on treatment with Diquafosol for the duration of 4 weeks before surgery. Further evaluations will be conducted on the day of surgery and at designated time points during and up to 12 weeks after surgery.

Comparing the Quality of Topical Autologous Serum in Different Etiologies of Dry Eye Syndrome

Dry Eye Syndrome

Human autologous serum is commonly used in the treatment of dry eye disease. However, different patients may have different effect with autologous serum treatment. We would like to find if different autologous serum had different component of cytokines in different etiologies of dry eye.
