Treatmant of Oral Lichen Planus With Lycopene

Lichen PlanusOral

the purpose of this study was to evaluate that if lycopene, a potent antioxidant can be used in the treatment of oral lichen planus. this could be useful as lycopene has no reported side effects and hence it can used in place of steroids which are commonly used for this condition and have many reported adverse effects. lycopene can be used in the treatment of this condition as free radicals have been found to play a role in the cause of this disease and also lower levels of lycopene were seen in these patints.

Use of Topical NSAID to Reduce Pain in Oral Lichen Planus and Oral Lichenoid Lesions.

Oral Lichen PlanusOral Lichenoid Mucositis1 more

Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a common chronic autoimmune disease associated with cell-mediated immunological dysfunction. Symptomatic OLP is painful and complete healing is rare. Current treatments for lichen planus and lichenoid mucositis are usually directed towards reducing the symptoms. This double-blinded cross-over placebo-controlled clinical trial is designed to measure the effectiveness of a topical NSAID (Ibuprofen suspension - 100mg/5ml) compared with a placebo in reducing pain associated with Oral Lichen Planus and Oral Lichenoid Lesions. Exclusion criteria include: The occurrence of dysplasia in the histopathological specimen Known or suspected sensitivity to NSAID medication History of asthma History of gastrointestinal ulceration History of bleeding disorders Pregnancy Outcome measures are self-reported pain scores at day 0, day 4 and day 7 of use of the placebo or active suspension, using a horizontal 100 mm, visual analog scale (VAS). If subjects were already on active treatment at the time of enrollment, they will be asked to discontinue for 7 days for a washout period before starting the research study. cord their spontaneous pain level on a 0-10 VAS. Participants will be contacted initially after the first day of the intervention to discuss any concerns or questions. Every week, reminder phone calls will be made to the subjects to fill out the forms from the investigator and to check for any side effects from the intervention. Both the patient and the investigator will be blinded for the content of each bottle.

Effect of Adjunctive Systemic Vitamin E on Clinical Parameters and Salivary Total Antioxidant Capacity...

Oral Lichen Planus

Treatment of oral lichen planus is challenging. Diverse therapeutic modalities have been suggested, but a permanent cure is not yet available. In some oral lichen planus patients, topical corticosteroid alone is not sufficiently enough, thus it may require a supplementation to augment its effect. This trial will assess the effectiveness of vitamin E as a supplement in management of oral lichen planus.

Oral Lichen Planus

tacrolimus has been widely used as an immunosuppressant. the objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of tacrolimus 0.1 % in muco adhesive patch compared to tacrolimus or corticosteroids in paste forms for symptomatic oral lichen planus, and to investigate the effect of topical tacrolimus or corticosteroids on the expression of caspase-3 in oral lichen planus as an early marker of apoptosis using immunohistochemically analysis

Adjunctive Oral Systemic Vitamin E Therapy on Salivary Nitric Oxide Level in Patients With Erosive...

Lichen Planus

Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting the skin, mucous membranes,s and rarely scalp and nails. It is a T-cell-mediated autoimmune disease. Traditional treatment for OLP is topical steroids commonly used to treat mild to moderately symptomatic lesions. Recent treatment modalities for oral lichen planus include micronutrients such as antioxidants including vitamin E that modify the immune system function. Oral Lichen Planus

Introduction :Oral lichen planus (OLP) is one of the most common disorders of the oral cavity which is basically a chronic and inflammated mucocutaneous .There is no cure for OLP currently. The main focus of treatment is to reduce the duration and severity of the symptoms. This study was designed to determine and compare the parameters of improvement in patient symptoms and lesions caused by oral lichen planus by using triamcinolone acetonide mucoadhesive film and licorice mucoadhesive film. Methods and materials :The study was randomized by double-blind clinical trial . Patients with symptomatic OLP who referred to the Oral Medicine School of Dentistryin Medical Sciences in Isfahan University participated voluntarily. The patients were divided into two groups that were including 30 samples in each group. The first group was treated with triamcinolone mucoadhesive film and the second group were treated with licorice mucoadhesive film. Data were analyzed by using the Mann-Whitney test and t-test in SPSS software.
