Radiolabeled Glass Beads (TheraSphere®) in Treating Patients With Primary Liver Cancer That Cannot...

Liver Cancer

RATIONALE: Internal radiation therapy uses radioactive material placed directly into or near a tumor to kill tumor cells. Using radiolabeled glass beads to kill tumor cells may be effective treatment for liver cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying the side effects of hepatic arterial infusion using yttrium-90 microspheres (TheraSphere®) to see how well it works in treating patients with liver cancer that cannot be removed by surgery.

Study of Automatic Image Fusion of a CT Volume With Ultrasound During Percutaneous Ablation Treatment...

Hepatocellular Carcinoma

The automatic fusion of the ultrasound with a cone-beam CT volume will guide the positioning of the electrodes, despite the visibility of the tumor in ultrasound, in patients treated with irreversible electroporation in the interventional radiology room at Avicenna Hospital for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The objective is to evaluate the primary success rate of the automatic cone-beam CT fusion procedure and ultrasound, regardless of the tumor's visibility status in ultrasound.

The Safety and Efficacy of Spherical Microwave Ablation for the Treatment of Malignant Liver Tumors...

Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC)

Liver cancer including primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and metastatic liver cancers is one the most common malignancies in the world. Over 10000 new cases per year are diagnosed in Taiwan. Several pre-clinical studies have already demonstrated microwave ablation (MWA) is a safe and effective treatment for live cancers. The system (Solero Microwave Tissue Ablation System) with 2.45 GHz microwave generator could create a spherical ablation zone, and has certificated by CE (Conformité Européenne) mark and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval in 2017. However, there are still few experiences in using MWA for tumor ablation in Taiwan. In this study, the researchers will perform MWA for 20 inoperable patients with liver cancers adjacent to inferior vena cava (IVC). The researchers will appraisal the clinical feasibility and advantage of the system by this study.

Perioperative Treatment of Resectable Liver Metastases

Colon Cancer Liver Metastasis

This randomized, controlled, multicenter, non-comparative phase II trial compares an intensified perioperative treatment of patients with resectable synchronous or metachronous colorectal liver metastases to primary surgery and adjuvant systemic chemotherapy.

Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy in Liver Cancer That Cannot be Removed by Surgery or Transplant...

Adult Primary Hepatocellular CarcinomaAdvanced Adult Primary Liver Cancer2 more

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Stereotactic body radiation therapy may be able to send x-rays directly to the tumor and cause less damage to normal tissue in patients with liver cancer. Giving stereotactic body radiation therapy may also increase patient eligibility for liver transplant.PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well stereotactic body radiation therapy works in treating patients with liver cancer that cannot be removed by surgery or transplant.

Predictive Value of 99mTc- Albumin Spheres Before 90Y- SIR Therapy

Colorectal CancerLiver Metastases

The purpose of this study is to assess the predictive value of 99mTechnetium (Tc)- labeled albumin in macroaggregates (MAA) and in microspheres (B20) injected into the common hepatic artery for the distribution of 90Yttrium- Selective Internal Radiotherapy (SIRT)-spheres (SIR- spheres).
