Diffuse Large Cell Lymphoma

This study is a multicentric randomized trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of R-CHOP given every 14 days compared to R-CHOP given every 21 days in association or not with darbepoetin alfa in order to maintain hemoglobin above 13 g/dl, compared to classical symptomatic treatment of anemia in patients aged from 60 to 80 years with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

This phase II trial is studying how well sorafenib works in treating patients with recurrent diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Sorafenib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth and by blocking blood flow to the tumor.

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Interferon alfa may interfere with the growth of cancer cells. Combining chemotherapy with interferon alfa may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining bexarotene with interferon alfa in treating patients who have cutaneous T-cell lymphoma.

This clinical trial studies fludarabine phosphate and total-body radiation followed by donor peripheral blood stem cell transplant and immunosuppression in treating patients with hematologic malignancies. Giving chemotherapy and total-body irradiation before a donor peripheral blood stem cell transplant helps stop the growth of cancer cells. It may also stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. When the healthy stem cells from a donor are infused into the patient they may help the patient's bone marrow make stem cells, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can make an immune response against the body's normal cells. Giving total-body irradiation together with fludarabine phosphate, cyclosporine, and mycophenolate mofetil before transplant may stop this from happening.

RATIONALE: Monoclonal antibodies such as daclizumab can locate tumor cells and either kill them or deliver tumor-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Peripheral stem cell transplantation from a brother or sister may be effective treatment for hematologic cancer. Sometimes the transplanted cells can be rejected by the body's tissue. Mycophenolate mofetil, tacrolimus, and donor white blood cells may prevent this from happening. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of mycophenolate mofetil, tacrolimus, daclizumab, and donor peripheral stem cell transplantation in treating patients who have hematologic cancer.
