Comparison Trial of Open-tip Pulsed Needle Biopsy and Conventional Core Biopsy in Axillary Lymph...

Breast Cancer

The aim of the study is to compare performance and safety of a newly developed 14-gauge open-tip pulsed biopsy needle with a conventional 14-gauge core biopsy needle for sampling of radiologically indeterminate or suspicious axillary lymph nodes in women with radiologically suspected breast cancer. This is a Sponsor-initiated multicentre randomised trial. At the time of radiological breast cancer diagnosis women with ultrasonically abnormal lymph nodes undergo axillary sampling using the NeoNavia biopsy system or a common CNB device. This is in accordance with clinical routine and current clinical guidelines. The NeoNavia biopsy system is approved for use in the axillary lymph nodes.

Monitoring for Cancer Spread to the Central Nervous System (CNS) in People With Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer

The researchers doing this study think that performing scans of the brain and testing cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in people with HER2-positive breast cancer may be an effective way of identifying the early onset of CNS metastases (such as brain cancer). If the researchers can identify the early onset of CNS metastases, they can immediately treat that cancer and possibly prevent it from worsening. Currently, people with breast cancer don't usually have scans of the brain or CSF testing unless they are experiencing symptoms of CNS metastases.

Prehabilitation for Breast Cancer Surgery

Breast Cancer

Prehabilitation for women diagnosed with breast cancer is commonly not part of the clinical pathways as little time (usually a few days) is left between diagnosis and surgery. However, a great proportion of these patients will undergo neoadjuvant chemotherapy which provides a window opportunity to improve patients' physical status to withstand surgery and minimize post-operative musculoskeletal complications associated with surgery. To this end, the aim of this study is to assess the efficacy of a prehabilitation program consisting of health education and a supervised nordic walking-based intervention in women diagnosed with breast cancer currently undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy to decrease post-operative musculoskeletal impairments and improve functionality of the affected arm. The study is an open-label, single-blind randomised controlled trial conducted at one tertiary hospital. Women diagnosed with breast cancer scheduled for surgery and currently undergoing chemotherapy will be randomised to either usual care (UC) or prehabilitation (PREHAB). Patients will be assessed for eligibility during the fourth out of six course of chemotherapy. Those randomised to the PREHAB group will participate in a supervised group-based nordic walking intervention twice weekly during 8 weeks (approximately 16 sessions). In addition, participants will receive written information regarding the benefits of exercise during cancer treatment and surveillance. Patients will be assessed prior to surgery as well as at 1, 3 and 6 months postoperatively.

Effects of White Button Mushroom on Inflammation in Obese Postmenopausal Women at High Risk of Breast...

Breast Carcinoma

This clinical trial studies the effects of dietary white button mushroom on inflammation (the body's process of fighting against harmful things) and immune cells (white blood cells) in postmenopausal women with both high body mass index or BMI (percentage of body fat) and high risk of breast cancer. The body is in a constant state of alert when inflammation lingers at a low level and becomes chronic, as with having button mushroom is a dietary supplement that may improving responses of immune cells (white blood cells) and decreasing chronic inflammation. Information gathered from this study may help researchers determine whether white button mushroom have any effects on body fat and breast cancer risk.

Breast Neoplasm FemalePain5 more

Breast cancer is the most common and leading cause of cancer deaths among females worldwide. Patients undergoing modified radical mastectomy (MRM) are associated with moderate to severe acute postoperative pain and shoulder mobility restriction. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided PECS block for reducing opioid consumption, providing adequate postoperative pain management and improving patient satisfaction following breast cancer surgery.

Monitoring HER2+ Breast Cancer Neoadjuvant Treatment With Advanced PET/MRI

HER2-positive Breast Cancer

The purpose of the study is to see if using an investigational drug called [18F]FMISO with PET/MRI imaging can help monitor and predict the effect of trastuzumab (Herceptin) on chemotherapy in patients diagnosed with advanced HER2 positive breast cancer. This study is for imaging purposes only and is not a treatment study. The results of this study will not change a patient's clinical treatment plan but it may help physicians and researchers better understand how best to treat patients with breast cancer in the future.
