RATIONALE: Acupuncture may help relieve joint stiffness related to aromatase inhibitors in patients with early-stage breast cancer. PURPOSE: This single arm clinical study aims to evaluate how well acupuncture as a non-pharmacological treatment, works in treating patients with joint stiffness related to aromatase inhibitors (AIs) in patients with early-stage breast cancer.

The purpose of this study is to provide prospective evidence that the Magseed Pro® marker /Sentimag® Gen3 system is safe and effective for marking A. suspicious/biopsy-proven positive axillary lymph nodes; and B. soft tissue lesions including cancer and pre-cancerous change in the breast

This clinical trial studies the effectiveness of a web-based cancer education tool called Helping Oncology Patients Explore Genomics (HOPE-Genomics) in improving patient knowledge of personal genomic testing results and cancer and genomics in general. HOPE-Genomics is a web-based education tool that teaches cancer/leukemia patients, and patients who may be at high-risk for developing cancer, about genomic testing and provide patients with information about their own genomic test results. The HOPE-Genomics tool may improve patient's genomic knowledge and quality of patient-centered care. In addition, it may also improve education and care quality for future patients.

For this study, the investigators propose investigation of a new imaging technique, Harmonic Motion Imaging (HMI), and the evaluation of its potential role in prediction of breast cancer response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). The investigators hypothesize that changes in HMI parameters will predict response to neoadjuvant systemic therapy in early-stage breast cancer.

This phase II/III trial investigates the difference in rates of infusion hypersensitivity reaction in patients with breast cancer who are receiving paclitaxel alone or in combination with other cancer drugs which require parenteral rescue medication after stopping standard pre-medications (dexamethasone, diphenhydramine, famotidine/cimetidine/ranitidine), compared to continuing premedications. Paclitaxel is a drug used to treat breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and autoimmune deficiency syndrome (AIDS)-related Kaposi sarcoma. It blocks cell growth by stopping cell division and may kill cancer cells. It is a type of antimitotic agent. However, there are side-effects and toxicities associated with repeat exposure to this pre-medication regimen. With prolonged use of paclitaxel, especially during weekly regimens, patients are exposed to repeat doses of drugs that prevent hypersensitivity reactions. Side effects include, but are not limited to, insomnia, gastritis, fluid retention, weight gain, mood changes and immune suppression. The information gained from this study may positively influence clinical practice and help researchers develop methods to safely stop pre-medications.

Recent literature data suggest beneficial effects of dietary fats in patients with cancers, in particular polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). Fish oil and evening primrose oil provide a high amount of PUFAs and a desirable n-6/n-3 PUFAs ratio.

BREACE is a prospective randomized controlled trial. The aim is to investigate the effect of an exercise-based intervention among older participants with breast cancer treated with adjuvant or first-line systemic therapy. The hypotheses: That the intervention will maintain or increase physical function levels, reduce symptoms and side effects, improve quality of life and psychological wellbeing, and prevent weight loss and muscle wasting

This phase I trial tests the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness of online dietary and resistance training to improve physical function in older (greater than or equal to 65-years old) cancer survivors. Declines in adequate protein and calorie intake results in faster loss of muscle mass and physical functioning in older adults. A novel approach to improving physical function in older cancer survivors (OCS) is to utilize online, tailored education and counseling from registered dietitians and exercise scientists, to improve dietary intake (protein intake, diet quality) and participation in resistance exercise. The purpose of this study is to help researchers learn whether an online dietary and resistance training intervention improves diet, exercise, physical function, and health outcomes in OCS.
