The acute effects of cannabis may differ between adolescents and adults. Furthermore, these effects may be tempered by the presence of cannabidiol. This double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover experiment investigates the acute effects of cannabis (with and without cannabidiol) on subjective effects, behavioural responses and neural functioning in 16-17 year-olds and 26-29 year-olds who regularly use cannabis (0.5-3 days per week).

Vaping THC From Electronic Cigarettes

Marijuana Dependence

This study aims to understand THC pharmacology and the safety of cannabis vaping, including the pharmacology and safety of co-administration of nicotine and THC. The study is designed as a within-subjects single-blinded crossover study. Fourteen smokers of tobacco cigarettes and cannabis will switch between three conditions, namely: (a) vaping cannabis leaf, (b) vaping tobacco containing nicotine and (c) vaping a combination of cannabis leaf and tobacco containing nicotine. All participants will vape each product with the PAX loose-leaf vaporizer. The study will be conducted during three outpatient visits separated by at least 48 hours. The order of treatment (cannabis leaf, tobacco with nicotine, cannabis leaf & tobacco with nicotine) will be counterbalanced between subjects. Subjects will be blinded to the content of the vaporizer on the study day but will be told during screening that they will vape cannabis alone, tobacco alone, and cannabis plus tobacco with nicotine.

This is a double-blind, crossover trial that will recruit a cohort of non-treatment seeking Cannabis use disordered participants. Participants will then undergo either active, or sham rTMS to the LDLPFC, and cue-induced craving, and risky decision making will be assessed.

Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Effects of Oral Cannabis

Few studies have been conducted to assess the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic effects of orally consumed intact cannabis (e.g., cannabis-containing brownies). Careful analysis of oral cannabis dose effects on these parameters is required to determine the level and duration of biological cannabinoid exposure and associated subjective, cardiovascular and cognitive effects. In the present study we evaluated the detection of cannabinoids in oral fluid, plasma, hair, and urine for up to 9 days following consumption of oral cannabis (10mg, 25mg, or 50mg THC). The outcomes of the study will extend scientific knowledge about the behavioral pharmacology and toxicology of oral cannabis administration and can inform policies regarding clinical, workplace and roadside drug testing programs.

The first aim of this study is to determine whether a brain reward center (BRC) deficiency in patients with schizophrenia (SCZ) and cannabis use disorder (CUD) will be normalized when patients are given cannabis or dronabinol. The second aim will serve to further assess the effects of dronabinol on symptoms and medication side effects in this population.

The Effect of Prescription Medications in Marijuana Users

A subset of heavy marijuana users have trouble quitting marijuana use and the number of those seeking treatment for problems related to marijuana is increasing. The purpose of this research study is to investigate whether dronabinol can reduce withdrawal effects associated with stopping marijuana use, if dronabinol can reduce the rewarding effects of smoked marijuana, and whether there are any cognitive performance deficits associated with dronabinol doses that produce such effects.
