This study is for individuals who have peritoneal mesothelioma, a cancer of the lining of your abdominal wall and organs (the peritoneum). Doctors leading the study would like to determine the effects of treating this cancer with immunotherapy drugs (nivolumab and ipilimumab - the two study drugs that will be used in this study) before and after surgery. Doctors hope to learn if giving these two drugs before surgery will decrease the amount of viable (live) cancer cells that remain at the time of surgery and whether it will delay the time it could take for the cancer to regrow.

This is a multicenter, open-label, non-randomized, study of pembrolizumab in combination with cisplatin and pemetrexed in treatment of naïve participants with a histologically confirmed diagnosis of advanced/unresectable malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) in Japanese participants. This study will evaluate the safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy of pembrolizumab in combination with cisplatin and pemetrexed. The primary objective is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of treatment with pembrolizumab in combination with cisplatin and pemetrexed.

PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well pemetrexed disodium or observation works in treating patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma without progressive disease after first-line chemotherapy.

Pleural catheter will be placed first, then pts will receive 2 doses of intrapleural vector followed by front line or second line chemotherapy 4-6 cycles every 21 days.

The goal of this clinical research study is to learn how dasatinib affects biomarker levels in patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma that may be able to be removed by surgery. Sorafenib, Pemetrexed, and Cisplatin in Treating Patients With Advanced Solid Tumors

RATIONALE: Sorafenib and pemetrexed may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Sorafenib may also stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking blood flow to the tumor. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving sorafenib together with pemetrexed and cisplatin may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of sorafenib when given together with pemetrexed and cisplatin in treating patients with advanced solid tumors.

Video-Assisted Surgery or Talc Pleurodesis in Treating Patients With Malignant Mesothelioma

RATIONALE: Video-assisted surgery to remove part of the tissue layer covering the inside of the chest cavity may be effective in treating pleural effusion and cause less damage to normal tissue. Talc pleurodesis may keep fluid from building up in the chest cavity. It is not yet known which therapy is more effective in treating pleural effusion caused by malignant mesothelioma. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying video-assisted surgery to see how well it works compared with talc pleurodesis in treating patients with malignant mesothelioma.
