Real World Study of MPM in China

Malignant Pleural MesotheliomaDiagnoses Disease2 more

Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a highly aggressive tumor with atypical clinical manifestations. Most patients with MPM are at an advanced stage at the time of diagnosis, and only a few patients can be cured by radical surgery and other treatment measures. Pemetrexed + cisplatin chemotherapy with or without bevacizumab is still the standard treatment for MPM. In recent years, multimodality therapy including surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy have shown certain advantages in improving patient overall survival time. Targeted and immunotherapy may bring breakthroughs in MPM therapy. However, there are still no high-quality evidence-based medical evidence reports on the treatment model and effects of MPM patients in China. Focusing on MPM, we plan to systematically review the relevant scientific literature, confirm relevant scientific research questions, and provide references for related treatments. On this basis, we will estimate MPM incidence and mortality rates from 2014 to 2025 based on the data published by the National Cancer Registry. Meanwhile, a retrospective study cohort was constructed based on the electronic medical record database, and according to the research demand, patients were followed up with their post-discharge survival status to comprehensively describe and analyze the incidence, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of MPM patients. Also, exploratory analysis of the therapeutic effects of existing clinical treatments was conducted.

Trimodality Therapy for Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma

Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma

The role of surgical resection in the management of Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma (MPM) is still controversial. The selection criterion to perform either Extrapleural Pneumonectomy (EPP) or Pleurectomy/Decortication (P/D) is dependent not only on the cardio-pulmonary status of the patient, tumor stage and intraoperative findings but also on surgeons' decision and philosophy. There are no established guidelines. Radical Pleurectomy (RP) competes against EPP as surgical therapy modality. Both surgical approaches are cytoreductive treatment options. The aim is to remove all gross disease and to achieve macroscopic complete resection. Originally P/D was a palliative option for controlling pleural effusion. But lung-sparing surgery for MPM seems to be an alternative to patients unsuitable or unwilling to undergo EPP in a multimodality therapy concept. Most studies evaluating multimodality therapies for MPM are based on retrospective analyses and their interpretation is difficult because of inhomogeneous patient groups studied. The aim of our study was to analyze the feasibility and results of RP as surgical therapy modality in a standardized trimodality therapy concept.

Epithelioid Sarcoma (Ex-US Only)Spindle Cell Sarcoma18 more

Patients with a diagnosis listed under "conditions" below are eligible to be considered for the EAP. These conditions must be serious or life-threatening at the time of enrollment and appropriate, comparable, or satisfactory alternative treatments must have been tried without clinical success. Patients with conditions not listed under "conditions" below are not eligible for the tazemetostat EAP.

French National Registry of Rare Peritoneal Surface Malignancies

Rare Peritoneal Surface MalignanciesPseudomyxoma Peritonei6 more

Despite advances in the management of and changes in clinical practice, little is known about the epidemiology, patterns of care and outcomes of rare peritoneal surface malignancies patients in France. In order to better understand the characteristics of rare peritoneal surface malignancies and to evaluate treatment strategies, the RENAPE registry aims at the collection of data from patients presenting with a rare peritoneal surface malignancy in France. Data will be entered prospectively in a specifically designed and secured web database. All RENAPE's centres and physicians are invited to register patients with a rare peritoneal surface malignancy diagnosis and to participate to the registry. Data will be evaluated within regular time frames, focusing on types of rare peritoneal surface malignancies, treatment modalities and patient outcomes (e.g. survival, recurrence), thereby contributing to the better understanding of these rare cancers.

Early Detection of Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma in Workers Exposed to Asbestos

MesotheliomaLung Cancer

This is a pilot study that aims to develop a lung cancer screening program for workers in British Columbia, Canada exposed to asbestos who are at risk of developing lung cancer/pleural mesothelioma. This is high risk population is at of respiratory system diseases as a result of their occupational exposures. Additionally, knowledge garnered from this study will allow us to develop other studies that will further our understanding of asbestos related lung cancer and mesothelioma.

Response Evaluation in Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma

Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma

Recently, a few small trials have shown promising results on value of fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose and positron emission tomography imaging in response assessment in Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma. These studies considered different parameters in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) analysis, mainly the standardized uptake value and volume-based parameters such as total glycolytic volume.

Thromboelastography During Surgery for Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma

CoagulopathyMesothelioma

Surgery for malignant pleural mesothelioma is complex and prolonged, and may involve significant blood loss with considerable blood and product transfusion. Thromboelastography (TEG) is a global assay of coagulation that uses whole blood to produce a tracing that records kinetic changes in clot formation. This study aims provide a better understanding of the coagulation profile of these patients, and will form the basis of a TEG-based transfusion algorithm for future surgeries for mesothelioma.
