Breathing movements, called chest wall motion, are very complex. The investigators are studying how movement of the abdomen, ribs and diaphragm contribute to breathing and how this differs with different diseases in the chest. Breathing movements may help with diagnosis, assessment of severity or assessing the impact of treatments for chest conditions. The investigators are following people who have a chest disease, measuring their chest wall motion and comparing it to their diagnosis and and how their treatment works. Chest wall motion can be measured in different ways at rest and whilst exercising. Small stickers on the chest can be used to reflect infra red light or visible squares of light can be shone onto the chest without using stickers.

The goal of this protocol is to determine the prevalence of somatic and germline mutations in BAP1 (BRCA associated protein-1) among patients with mesothelioma , choroidal nevus, primary uveal melanoma (UM), or metastatic UM seen at our institution.

This study is to evaluate the effects (good and bad) of ALIMTA and Cisplatin or ALIMTA alone on you and your malignant pleural mesothelioma as well as make ALIMTA available to patients who qualify for treatment.

Prospective exploratory study specifically investigating the role of 11C-Methionine PET/CT imaging in patients affected by Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma (MPM) and candidate to pleurodesis.

SPECTAlung is a program aiming at screening patients with thoracic tumors to identify the molecular characteristics of their disease. The thoracic tumors include lung cancer, malignant pleural mesothelioma, thymoma or thymic carcinoma at any stage. Once the molecular characteristics are identified, there might be the possibility to offer these patients access to targeted clinical trials.

To date, the different biopsy methods, such as CT-guided pleural biopsy, mediastinal biopsy, endosonography and thoracoscopy have their limitations in diagnosing pleural malignancies, such as mesothelioma. Sampling errors frequently occur resulting in the common histological finding of 'non-specific pleuritic/fibrosis', which presents a great uncertainty for clinicians and patients. Confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) provides real-time imaging on a cellular level, however data of CLE in pleural malignancies are lacking.

Multicentric, international, web-based prospective documentation of the indications and results of Pressurized Aerosol Chemotherapy (so-called PIPAC or PITAC) for treating malignant pleural and peritoneal diseases. Indication is decided by the treating physician. There are no predefined inclusion or exclusion criteria.

This is a prospective study evaluating the effect of expression of CD74 and VEGF on outcome of treatment in patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma receiving Pemetrexed/Platinum protocol. The paraffin blocks of the patients will be tested for CD74 and VEGF before starting treatment using IHC and the results will be correlated with the outcome of treatment during evaluation.

RATIONALE: Studying levels of mesothelin and osteopontin in samples of blood from patients with mesothelioma or atypical mesothelial hyperplasia may help doctors identify biomarkers related to cancer. PURPOSE: This research study is looking at mesothelin and osteopontin as diagnostic markers in patients with mesothelioma or atypical hyperplasia.
