Metabolic Syndrome

The primary objective of this study is to examine whether exercise training alone, liraglutide treatment alone or exercise training plus liraglutide treatment increases cardiac and skeletal muscle microvascular blood volume, improves vascular function of the conduit vessels, and enhances insulin's metabolic action in humans with Metabolic Syndrome. Subjects will be randomized to one of the 4 groups: control, exercise training, liraglutide treatment, and exercise + liraglutide. They will be studied at the baseline and then after 24 weeks of intervention.

A double-blinded, randomised, placebo-controlled trial of semaglutide 3.0 mg/ml in patients with poor weight-loss following bariatric surgery. The primary aim of this trial is to determine whether, and the extent to which, 68 weeks of subcutaneous semaglutide 3.0 mg/ml causes greater percentage weight loss (%WL), reduction in adiposity, improvement in metabolic and inflammatory indices and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) than placebo, in patients with poor weight loss following gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy.

This study evaluates the effects of probiotic consumption on inflammatory outcomes and measures of gut health. Participants will be given yogurt with probiotics for one period and yogurt without probiotics for another, with a break in between. These periods will occur in random order.

Effects of VLCKD in Metabolic Syndrome

VLCKD has showed to be an impactful diet on several metabolism aspects and has proven to be useful for preventing and treating diabetes mellitus type 2, overweight, chronic inflammation and fatty liver. For this reason, the aim of this pilot study is to examinate the potential effect of a VLCKD on a group of patients that contemporarily have DM2, obesity and Non alcholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), comparing the results with an ipocaloric diet based on Mediterranean Principles and Italian LARN (SINU 2014). This study will consider several interrelated outcomes such as anthropometric data, hematochemical and hormonal parameters, questionnaires, stool microbiota and omics, blood microvescicles, urine tests, instrumental tests (DXA, BIVA, ecographies), biopses and functional tests. 40 subjects will be evaluated and divided in two groups of 20 (VLCKD) and 20 (MedDiet).

Explore the Effect of Gynostemma Pentaphyllum on Patients With Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic Syndrome

Previous research shows that gypenoside could keep blood lipid and blood sugar under control in an effective way. In this study, we intend to explore whether gypenosides have clinical improvement effects on metabolic diseases such as diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and non-alcoholic fatty liver and their cardiovascular protective potential. It is designed to recruit 150 patients with metabolic syndrome diagnosed who meet the criteria for enrollment, and randomly divide them into three groups. Gynostemma powder, with two different saponins content (12% and 8%) from Pingli County, Shaanxi Province, and spinach powder with almost no saponins were used to conduct the intervention on patients. Patients will be followed up regularly at the beginning of each month from the first enrollment until the third month. At each follow-up, data of patient's anthropometric indicators as well as clinical inspection indicators related to metabolism (blood routine, liver function, etc.) will be recorded. In addition, patient's blood, hair, urine, and stool samples will be collected to further explore the mechanism of diseases.

The overall purpose of the study is to test the effect of Noom on exercise and diet advice in adults with type 2 diabetes. The overarching hypothesis is that the use of Noom may promote better dietary adherence during an exercise program, thereby promoting greater weight loss and cardiometabolic health compared to lifestyle advice only. In particular, the investigators anticipate that changes in metabolic and vascular insulin sensitivity will correlate with glycemic control and blood pressure changes.
