Surgical Spinal Decompression of Metastatic Spinal Cord Compression, Minimal Access Versus Open...
Spinal MetastasesThe investigators wish to evaluate the effect of minimal access spinal surgery compared to traditional open surgery spinal surgery in patients with metastatic spinal cord compression. Minimal access surgery has been shown to bee less damaging for the tissue compared to traditional open surgery and also cause fewer wound complications, the investigators expect the above could have impact in a vulnerable patient group like patients with metastatic spinal cord compression.

A Phase 2A Dose-ranging and Pharmacokinetic Study of an Oral Vitamin D Compound (DP001) in Secondary...
Secondary HyperparathyroidismThis is an open-label, dose-ranging study of the vitamin D analog DP001 in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The primary goals of this 4-week Phase 2A study are to identify an appropriate starting dose of DP001 to be used in subsequent studies in this population and for evaluation of pharmacokinetics of DP001 in ESRD patients.
Lung Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) Delivered Over 4 Days Versus 11 Days
Peripherally Located Stage I Lung CancerPeripherally Located Solitary Lung MetastasisStereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) has emerged as a new treatment option for peripherally located lung tumours, offering very high rates of tumour eradication, with minimal side effects. Even though this treatment option is being adopted in more and more cancer centres, there is still no consensus about the optimal schedule for the radiation treatment. Generally speaking, most lung SBRT schedules involve delivering 3-4 days of radiation. At the Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre, the lung SBRT policy is to deliver 4 days of radiation over 11 days (each treatment given once very 3rd day). However, some centres deliver the same treatment over 4 days in a row (each treatment given once daily over 4 days). There is no evidence from the published literature to suggest that there is any difference in side effects between delivering the SBRT over 4 days versus 11 days. To confirm this, the investigators propose to conduct a comparative (randomized) study to compare these 2 approaches.
