Facial Prediction Technology for Edentulous Patients
Edentulous JawAccording to data from the World Health Organization, approximately 160 million people worldwide are edentulous. The incidence increases with age, and the proportion of edentulous patients is higher in the population aged 60 and above. Loss of teeth or edentulism can affect facial appearance, causing people to feel self-conscious and loss confidence in social situations, and even lead to psychological illnesses. Therefore, edentulous patients not only pay close attention to the recovery of oral function but also attach great importance to facial contour improvement. For a long time, due to technological limitations, clinicians have been unable to depict the changes in facial contour after implant placement for patients before surgery. However, with the development of artificial intelligence technology, deep learning-based methods for predicting soft tissue facial deformation have made this mission a possibility. This study established a multi-modal dataset for edentulous patients before and after implant restoration to lay the foundation for predicting facial contour changes after implant treatment. A graph generative adversarial network based on multi-modal data was proposed to achieve fast and high-precision facial contour prediction. To address the common challenges of slow computation and excessive computational resource consumption in current triangular mesh deformation simulation methods, this project innovatively proposed a graph generative adversarial network that uses multi-modal data and incorporates self-attention mechanisms to achieve fast and high-precision facial contour prediction for edentulous patients after implant restoration.
Intraoral Scanning Accuracy in the Edentulous Mandible
JawEdentulous1 moreToday, tooth- or implant-supported single crowns and short-span fixed partial dentures can be fabricated on the basis of an intraoral scan, but the scanning accuracy decreases with increasing length of the jaw section to be captured. An accurate scan is also made more difficult by edentulous jaw sections, as these provide the scanner with few landmarks for proper three-dimensional image composition. With respect to both edentulous and edentulous patients with dental implants, the currently available literature does not provide a firm basis for deciding whether such patients can already be scanned with sufficient accuracy. It is considered problematic in this context that the findings on digital impression accuracy, regardless of whether teeth or implants have been scanned, are based almost exclusively on the results of in vitro studies. Conclusions about the accuracy of intraoral scanners under clinical conditions with moving patients and limited accessibility to the structures to be imaged, especially in the presence of blood, saliva or sulcus fluid, are extremely limited based on these data. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine the clinical scanning accuracy of two current intraoral scanning systems for the three-dimensional acquisition of the position of two interforaminal dental implants in the edentulous mandible. The influence of artificial landmarks to achieve increased scan accuracy will also be tested.
Safety Study of Gintuit™ in Subjects Requiring Socket Grafting
Edentulous Alveolar RidgeThis is a prospective, randomized, controlled, parallel group Phase 1/2 assessment of the safety of GINTUIT versus Bio-Gide in subjects who have a posterior tooth requiring extraction. The incidence and severity of adverse events will be summarized by group (GINTUIT and Bio-Gide).
Treatment With Fixture Microthread™ in Patients With Poor Bone Quality and no Teeth in the Upper...
JawEdentulous1 moreThe primary objective of the study is to evaluate the long-term survival rate of individual implants and prostheses when treating edentulous upper jaws of poor bone quality with Fixture MicroThread™ (Micro-Macro). Clinical study recruitment was stopped in year 2000 due to a decision to modify the product under study. This was a result of feedback regarding the subjective feeling during the installation procedure. There were no safety concerns w/r to the study products. Patients already included and treated in the study were monitored for the full duration of the study in accordance with the clinical study protocol.
Prospective Neodent® Zirconia System Study
JawEdentulous3 moreThe Neodent® Zirconia Implant is designed for the treatment of oral endosteal implantation for the functional and aesthetic rehabilitation, allowing for treatment of patients with different bone qualities. The objective of the study is to assess the success and survival rates of implantable devices of the Zirconia System, in order to confirm the long-term safety and clinical performance of implants and abutments of the Zirconia System in daily dental practice setting. Devices will be used according to standard routine in daily practice, according to manufacturer indications in the IFU. Patients will be followed for 36 months after implant placement.
Evaluation of Treatment With Fixture Microthread™ in Patients Missing All Teeth in the Upper Jaw,...
JawEdentulousThe primary objective of the study is to evaluate the long-term survival rate of implants and prostheses when treating totally edentulous upper jaws with Fixture MicroThread (Micro-Macro) using a one-stage surgical procedure.
REPI : a Randomized Open Label Trial Evaluating the Use of APC in Pre-Implantation Reconstruction...
JawEdentulous2 moreThis is a randomized open label trial that evaluates the efficacy of an autologous platelet concentrate (APC) in pre-implantation reconstruction of maxilla. The sinus occlusion will be performed under general anaesthetic. On one side by the usual technique with hipbone transplant, the other side will be restored with APC mixed with autologous bone tissue removed from the surgery site. The side selection will be determined by the randomization.

Prospective, Comparative Assessment of Alveolar Bone Augmentation Using GUIDOR® Membrane in the...
Bone RegenerationPurpose: The goal of guided bone augmentation is to provide an alveolar ridge of sufficient dimension to permit dental implant placement. While a wide variety of bone graft and barrier membrane products are commercially available, limited evidence exists supporting the use of one technique over another. The purpose of this study is to radiographically define the dimensional bone changes following horizontal bone augmentation using a synthetic GUIDOR® (Sunstar, Inc.) membrane. Secondary outcome measurements will include the assessment of inflammation, infection, or other wound healing complications. Participants: A total of 60 patients requiring bone augmentation of a single bound edentulous site prior to dental implant placement will be selected for this study. This is a multicenter study with 30 patients receiving treatment at each study site. Procedures (methods): Patients will be randomly allocated to receive horizontal bone augmentation with synthetic GUIDOR® membrane + freeze dried bone augmentation (FDBA), synthetic GUIDOR® membrane alone, or xenograft BioGide® membrane + FDBA. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging will be obtained at baseline and 6 months post-operatively to assess dimensional alveolar ridge changes. Additionally, post-operative appointments at 1, 2, and 4 weeks post-grafting will be completed to assess the presence of inflammation, infection, wound dehiscence, or membrane exposure.
