Efficacy and Safety of Salonsip Compared to Sabiá Plaster

ContusionsSprains3 more

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy in reducing signs and symptoms in patients with contusions, sprains, muscular injuries and injuries with less than 24 hours early or holders of myalgia, pain and tendonitis in regions miofasciais articulated with Salonsip compared to Sabiá plaster. It is clinical, open, multicenter, randomized, prospective and comparative, with patients entering at random. Patients will be included in sufficient quantity to achieve the minimum number of 70 evaluable patients.

Kinesio Taping in Muscle Damage Response Induced by Eccentric Exercise

BandagesMuscle Soreness

Sixty volunteers with a mean age of 21,8 ± 2,6 years participated in this study, randomly distributed into one of the following groups: control, Kinesio taping group with tension in the anterior arm region and Kinesio taping group without tension in the same region. All subjects underwent an eccentric exercise protocol and three evaluations: before the protocol, immediately after and 48h after protocol. The following variables were analyzed: sensation of pain as the primary outcome; peak torque normalized by body weight; average peak torque; total work and average power, using an isokinetic dynamometer. In addition, muscle activation amplitude (Root Mean Square) and median frequency were recorded using surface electromyography.

Topical Eucalyptus Globulus and Mentha x Piperita on Muscle Soreness in Older Adults and the Elderly...

Muscle Soreness

Subjects over age 50 with no previous resistance training sessions will be recruited at a subacute rehabilitation and long term care facility. Subjects will be asked to perform a series of eccentric upper arm curl exercises under physician supervision in order to induce muscle soreness. Afterwards, topical oil containing a 2% dilution of either eucalyptus or peppermint oil in fractionated coconut oil will be applied to the flexor surface of the proximal non-dominent arm, and plain fractionated coconut oil to the other arm. This will be repeated at 8 hours and 24 hours after exercise. Subjects will be asked to report their perceived level of muscle soreness using a visual analog scale survey 24, 48, and 72 hours after exercise.

Effect of American Ginseng on Exercise-induced Muscle Soreness

Muscle Damage

Healthy participants will ingest American ginseng daily or a placebo for four weeks prior to engaging in a unaccustomed exercise bout designed to induce mild-moderate muscle soreness. Muscle soreness will be assessed via decrements in muscle strength and with a self-rating of perceived soreness before and several times after the exercise.

Effect of Pistachios on Muscle Recovery

Muscle Soreness

Pistachios are an understudied and often unappreciated functional food. While nuts in general have received somewhat more attention for their nutritional properties from researchers, practitioners and the media, pistachios often seem to be overlooked. Meanwhile, pistachios appear to possess characteristics that suggest that they are likely to impart benefits that are equal to and perhaps above and beyond those of average nuts. We intend to explore the potential impacts of pistachios on recovery from rigorous exercise in well-trained athletes. We hypothesize that feeding 1.5 oz of pistachios will improve exercise recovery as determined by a reduction in delayed onset muscle soreness and suppression of markers of muscle damage, inflammation and oxidative stress in comparison to water and that the benefits will be greater with consumption of 3.0 oz of pistachios.
