The purpose of this prospective, interventional, single-arm pilot study is to evaluate whether virtually delivered group-based physical activity is feasible for adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors. AYAs who were diagnosed with cancer and have completed cancer treatment will be recruited for this study. This study will enroll 20 participants in total and will last approximately 3 months.

The myeloma microenvironment is the target of many drugs in development, and it is unclear how they can be combined with reference treatments such as lenalidomide. This pilot study consists of an extensive phenotypic characterisation of the impact of lenalidomide combined with dexamethasone on the bone marrow microenvironment of a homogeneous cohort of non-pretreated MM patients. Blood sampling will be systematically performed in a matched fashion to monitor the general effect of lenalidomide on the immune system and to detect possible peripheral markers. This study will provide rational guidance for future combination therapies with lenalidomide.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of armodafinil for the treatment of cancer-related fatigue in adult patients with multiple myeloma. The study consists of a screening period, followed by a 56-day treatment phase, and a final assessment to occur 28 days after the end of the last treatment.

The purpose of this study is to determine the pharmacokinetic profile of Revlimid® in patients presenting with Multiple Myeloma and impaired renal function, the safety of Revlimid® in the enrolled patients population. and evaluate the efficacy of Revlimid®-Dexamethasone combination in patients presenting MM and impaired renal function at completion of 3 cycles of treatment.

RATIONALE: Ondansetron may help lessen or prevent nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well ondansetron works in preventing nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing stem cell transplant.

RATIONALE: Rasburicase may be an effective treatment for graft-versus-host disease caused by a donor stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying how well rasburicase works in preventing graft-versus-host disease in patients with hematologic cancer or other disease undergoing donor stem cell transplant.

The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of Epoetin alfa therapy (short term versus long term) with and without a home-based individualized exercise program that incorporated aerobic and strength resistance training for patients being treated with high-dose chemotherapy and autologous peripheral bloodstem cell transplantation (PBSC T) for multiple myeloma. The endpoints for the study included the number of attempts at and total number of days of stem cell collection, number of RBC and platelet transfusions during the transplantation period, time-to-recovery after transplantation, and response to intensive therapy for multiple myeloma.

RATIONALE: Darbepoetin alfa may cause the body to make more red blood cells. Red blood cells contain iron that is needed to carry oxygen to the tissues. It is not yet known whether giving darbepoetin alfa (DA) together with intravenous iron or oral iron is more effective than giving darbepoetin alfa together with a placebo in treating anemia caused by chemotherapy. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying giving darbepoetin alfa together with iron to see how well it works compared with giving darbepoetin alfa together with a placebo in treating anemia caused by chemotherapy in patients with cancer.

RATIONALE: American ginseng may reduce fatigue in patients with cancer. It is not yet known whether American ginseng is more effective than a placebo in treating cancer-related fatigue. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying American ginseng to see how well it works in treating patients with fatigue caused by cancer.

RATIONALE: Tests that measure certain changes in blood in patients at high risk of cytomegalovirus infection may help doctors learn more about predicting cytomegalovirus infection after donor stem cell transplant. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying tests that measure changes in the blood in patients at high risk of cytomegalovirus infection after undergoing donor bone marrow transplant or peripheral stem cell transplant.
