This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled Phase II study is designed to assess the safety and efficacy of using JVS-100 to treat heart failure.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether Salbutamol is effective in the treatment of severe heart failure due to ischemic and non- ischemic cardiomyopathy.

The investigators hypothesize that the different components of arterial load are coupled with different components of LV function. The regional ventriculo-arterial couplings may be important in the pathogenesis of heart failure and ventricular remodeling, and in the prediction of future cardiovascular events.

Patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction have a equally high risk for mortality and re-hospitalization as those with reduced ejection fraction. Effective management strategies are critically needed to be established for this type of heart failure. These patients have more hypertensive and ischemic etiology than those with reduced ejection fraction. The investigators hypothesis is that Ca channel blocker nifedipine can improve the heart failure clinical composite response endpoint compared with the conventional treatment in patients with heart failure with hypertension and/or coronary artery disease and preserved ejection fraction (>=50%) by echocardiography. This study is multi-center, prospective, randomized, open-label, and blinded-endpoint design.

Mobilization of fluid from the legs with the Normatec pump in patients with right heart failure, may empty the "reservoir" in the legs from excessive fluid, enabling fluid overload to collect there rather than in the liver or in other third spaces. Thus, we hypothesize that patients will lose weight, feel better, look better, be less prone to infections in their legs and to congestion of the liver.

This research study was designed to test the safety and effectiveness of autologous stem cell graft in the myocardium of patients with refractory Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) with ischemic etiology. Cellular implantation will take place during off-pump revascularization surgery or during an ad hoc procedure using a mini-thoracotomy access.

Paediatric long-term safety follow-up clinical trial in maximum 100 children with heart failure due to dilated cardiomyopathy or congenital heart disease, from 1 day to less than 12 years of age at recruitment into the preceding short-term pharmacokinetic (PK)/pharmacodynamic (PD) trials. Pharmacodynamic measurements and renal monitoring in all children after 1 , 4, 7 and 10 months of follow-up; in addition PK assessments as well as acceptability and palatability assessments in children still under enalapril Orodispersible Minitablet (ODMT) treatment.

Paediatric clinical trial in 50 children, from 1 month to less than 12 years of age, suffering from heart failure due to dilated cardiomyopathy, to obtain paediatric pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic data of enalapril and its active metabolite enalaprilat while treated for 8 weeks with enalapril in form of Orodispersible Minitablets (ODMTs), to describe the dose exposure in this patient population.
